By Isak Möller -

During AC Milan’s start of the pre-season this morning, Paolo Maldini was present at Milanello to watch the players and he also had time to speak to the club’s channel. He made it clear that they must turn the page.

The Rossoneri managed to clinch their first Scudetto in eleven years against all odds and their goal is obviously to defend the title this upcoming season. It won’t be an easy task, though, and a lot will depend on the reinforcements from the mercato.

Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Maldini spoke about this past season but made it clear that Milan now need to turn the page and look forward. As you would expect, though, he’s optimistic about what’s to come.

“Now we start again, the vacation was well deserved. The season was fantastic. We still have the echo of last season, but we must remember how we got to this victory. Now we have to turn the page.”

On the upcoming season…

“I repeat, we must remember how we got there and forget what happened after Sassuolo. Last year he cemented the group, but we start again. Every year is different.”

On the Raduno…

“We are always in reduced numbers, but from the 15th-16th we will have everyone available. There is a bit of that team spirit since many don’t know each other, but from tomorrow it will be routine but also a special day.´”

On the season divided by the World Cup…

“We have to get used to it. We got used to Covid, to suspensions, to matches without fans. We have to get used to it, it will be a season totally divided in two.”

On the objectives…

“There is the preparation, the idea of certain objectives, the management of the group,” he stated.

As said, it remains to be seen what Maldini and Massara will come up with on the market but it’s clear that a few reinforcements are needed. Hopefully, they will arrive sooner rather than later.
