Maldini: “Ibrahimovic is an option, we are in talks; There are also other options”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan director Paolo Maldini has admitted that the pursuit of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is difficult due to the timing of his response.

The Rossoneri have seemingly made Ibrahimovic their primary target for the January window, with the 38-year-old now a free agent having left previous club LA Galaxy.

We reported via our mercato expert on Tuesday evening that optimism from Milan regarding the signing of Ibrahimovic has grown to the extent that Zvonomir Boban hopes to unveil the striker on Sunday before the game against Sassuolo.

Arena Napoli though claimed that Everton officials – who are also in the process of finding a new manager – have put together a lucrative package to try and lure Zlatan back to England.

Then Jennifer Wegerup – a close friend of Ibra – gave an update on the situation during an interview with SportMediaset, stating that Napoli could also be an option for the Swede.

Speaking to Sky Italia before the game, Maldini discussed the situation and confirmed that the two parties are in talks.

“Ibrahimovic is an option, we are in talks. There are also other options. The more time goes the more it becomes difficult. Alternative? We are open to talented players.”
