Maldini opens up about Locatelli, Kessie and Juve clash: “We feel stronger than last year”

In less than 30 minutes, AC Milan will take on Juventus in the fourth round of Serie A. Speaking to the media, Paolo Maldini shared his thoughts on the game and also a few other topics.

The game will take place at Allianz Stadium and the Rossoneri will be looking for yet another win there. Two consecutive wins away at Juventus would certainly be something to celebrate, but it won’t be a walk in the park.

In an interview with DAZN, as cited by MilanNews, Maldini was asked about tonight’s game as well as a few other stuff. He shared an update on the situation of Franck Kessie, whose contract will expire next year.

“Allegri says it’s a more important clash for us? I don’t know the reasons, you should ask him. For us, it’s an important match because we come from an important UCL match which, despite being a defeat, didn’t take away the certainties of the first three games of the season.

“The certainties are those of wanting to impose something, not to be passive, to improve with young players who year after year get more experience. We feel stronger than last year.”

On Romagnoli…

“He’s a great professional, he’s our captain. A team that plays in the Champions League must have 15-16 starters and Alessio is one of them.”

On Locatelli…

“I arrived in the week of Locatelli’s transfer to Sassuolo. We asked him to stay, but he asked to leave. At Milan only those who want to stay remain. Manuel’s path wasn’t for the type of team we wanted and it did him good to go to Sassuolo.”

On the renewal of Kessie…

“Have I talked more with Klopp or with Atangana? With Klopp. We have been talking to the agent for a year and a half. There have been many meetings and there will be others,” he stated.

The defeat against Liverpool wasn’t ideal (albeit expected) and it would be a big boost to bounce back with a win this evening. You can take a look at all the team news for the game here.
