Maldini reveals why he is worried about Shamrock Rovers: “It’s a game that scares us a lot”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has admitted he is ‘scared’ by the prospect of facing Shamrock Rovers on Thursday.

The countdown has begun to Milan’s first competitive match of the 2020-21 campaign as they travel to the Irish capital for a Europa League second qualifying round match.

The spotlight is on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has missed the last two friendlies against Vicenza and Brescia, but aside from that Milan will also be missing forwards Ante Rebic (banned) and Rafael Leao (injured) plus defenders Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio and Andrea Conti.

Maldini spoke to Sky Italia about the Tonali deal among other subjects including the game against Shamrock, with his words transcribed by MilanNews.

“We are ready, I hope. It’s a game that scares us a lot,” he said.

“It’s a team that is doing well, first in their league, we have some problems, Rebic disqualified, Leao injured. We play away from home in a knockout match, we are rightly worried.”

Meanwhile, you can see the latest predicted XI that the Rossoneri are likely to deploy for the game in Ireland here.
