In a long interview with Sky Italia (via MilanNews.it), which has been released in parts over the last 24 hours, AC Milan director Paolo Maldini confirmed that Ibrahimovic would be a dream for the Rossoneri.
The Swede’s contract with LA Galaxy expires at the end of December and it doesn’t look like he will renew it. Therefore, he should be available on a free transfer in January, which has sparked rumours of a Milan return.
Last year, Milan found themselves in almost the exact same position, as Ibrahimovic’s contract was due to expire. However, as reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via PianetaMilan.it), CEO Ivan Gazidis blocked the deal at the last minute.
Maldini made it clear that the 38-year-old could be a dream signing for so many reasons, but that the conditions might not suit the Swede. In other words, a return to the Rossoneri seems unlikely, at least for now.
“Ibra would be a dream return for many reasons. However, within his mind I think there is a little fear that he won’t be the dominant Ibra of old. I don’t know if he can accept sitting on the bench,” he stated.
