Manchester United’s interest in signing AC Milan star Rafael Leao is real and concrete, according to a report.

Leao’s name remains at the centre of transfer rumours after a season with ups and downs, as Milan fans and the management have become accustomed to. There is talk that Sunday’s game against Cagliari could be his last after seven seasons with the red and black.

Manchester United serious about Leao

According to MilanVibes, the winger continues to attract the attention of several clubs abroad. Among these, Manchester United have shown particular interest in him in the last few hours and they are monitoring his situation closely.

They believe that Leao has the ‘quality, speed and unpredictability’ to bolster Michael Carrick’s attacking options. At the moment, there are no concrete negotiations between the two clubs, nor are there any advanced contacts regarding a possible transfer.

Despite this, Manchester United’s interest is strong and the Rossoneri could open up to the idea of a sale, especially with potentially significant offers from the Premier League.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also made some exploratory inquiries regarding the former Lille star. Both clubs have reportedly conducted internal assessments but neither seem to be as serious as United at the moment.

Leao is among Portugal’s 27-man squad for the tournament to be played in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It could well be a showcase for him to show what he can do on the biggest stage and spark a bit of an auction.

The relationship between Milan and Leao has never been in question, in the sense that the parties have always interacted based on principles of great mutual respect, so a turbulent parting is not expected.

The negotiation process will be facilitated in fundamental principles: the No.10 asks to be able to choose the league and team he wants to play for, while the club simply wants to set a minimum price to be able to accept the player’s sale.

  1. I’ll miss him though, I remember the game against atletico madrid at San Siro, he was on fire as CF

    1. Yes. In case of emergency, break glass and insert for sporadic bursts of offence. And only offence, at that.

  2. If the EPL clubs jump in, furlani will open the table guys. Barca and bayern already explore the player and thats its not their minimum requirements for the team and the mentality. So, i think the best its go to United if they have seriousness…
