Mateo Kovacic is a name to look out for when it comes to potential midfield targets for AC Milan this summer, a report has claimed.
As numerous sources have stated, there could well be substantial movement in the middle of the park ahead of 2026-27, starting with the potential sales of Youssouf Fofana and/or Ruben Loftus-Cheek. That would free up room for new additions, with Massimiliano Allegri wanting more experience.

Goretzka and Kovacic?
Luca Bianchin spoke on La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) about some of the moves that could happen. He reports that Leon Goretzka has just celebrated his last Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich, who he will leave on a free transfer.
Milan have called repeatedly, because Goretzka is highly valued by Allegri and others within the management. At 31, he is considered the ideal addition to a midfield with Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot, as a box-to-box man.
Convincing him isn’t so easy because Goretzka wants to continue playing at the highest level, with a salary that matches his expectations. There is also talk of him requesting a high signing-on bonus given the absence of a club-to-club fee.
Milan haven’t made any decisive moves for other targets so far. However, it’s natural that they’ll be following the midfield market ‘in a summer when Mateo Kovacic, a close friend of Luka Modric, could also move’.

Does a wheelchair come with Kovacic? Really.
No please
They don’t need another technical midfielder.
They need a physical midfielder. A Fofana with an end product.
Surely it’s just be cheaper and easier to get Fofana to practice shooting in training?
That’s what people used to do. Rather than constantly looking for solutions on the transfer market they used to coach what they had.
“They don’t need another technical midfielder.”
ANOTHER? When did we have a technical midfielder since Pirlo left?
Perfect replacement for Ricci who looks like a loan may be his best bet of paying time.
If he stays fit, he’d actually be a pretty good addition. If Allegri would switch to a 4231 or a 4312 we would need someone with some creativity to play a 10 and Kovacic could work.
Rabiot would work well in a double pivot with another strong MF and we could use our wingers, a 10 and a CF.
He is not a 10. Never was. Never will be.
He is coming back from long-term knee and Achilles injuries/surgery. When he left Chelsea he was pretty much out his whole last year with a knee injury. No. No. No.
Useless cripple. No thanks.
Can’t wait to see him in a Milan shirt. Accidentally watched a City cup game recently and he was the best player on the pitch (by far) after being out for so long. Last year he was world class.
