Mancini praises Milan and Atalanta as he believes they ‘resemble Italy the most’

AC Milan and Atalanta are the only ones of the seven big teams that kept their managers from last season. And this is something that Italy manager Roberto Mancini pointed out as he praised both of the teams.

Milan and Atalanta are among the favourites for the Scudetto this season, perhaps along with Juventus and Inter, and that’s not exactly a coincidence. Unlike the other big teams, they have decided to continue with Stefano Pioli and Gian Piero Gasperini respectively.

In an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews, Roberto Mancini was asked about which teams resemble his Italy side the most. He named both Milan and Atalanta and shared his thoughts on them.

“Milan and Atalanta are the teams that resemble Italy the most. They raise the individual performances thanks to their game. It’s no coincidence that they are the only ones to have confirmed their managers, of the 7 big teams. Pioli and Gasperini share the principles: pressing, collective and offensive play. Both must strengthen on the market,” he stated.

This evening, Milan will begin their season away at Sampdoria, hoping to at least replicate the fantastic 2020/21 season they had. However, it won’t be easy and perhaps one or two reinforcements are still needed on the market.

  1. Nah. Mancini not even call single player milan except gigio at euro. I know italy won euro but still strange he not call calabria or romagnoli. He prefer choosen florenzi and acerbi.

    1. calabria has been called, but he prefers surgery. romagnoli has decreased in ability. even in the main team his position has been replaced by tomori
