Marchisio excludes Leao, Maignan and Theo from Milan-Juventus combined XI

This weekend’s headline clash is AC Milan’s clash against Juventus, and ahead of the fixture, former midfielder Claudio Marchisio has offered his view on several players.

Milan’s season has not started brilliantly, and the finger can be pointed several ways. Perhaps, Paulo Fonseca should have taken more risks with his starting side, or maybe even been safer, and stuck closer to Stefano Pioli’s tactics. Regardless of this, he is still attempting to find the right solutions.

Possibly the issues lie within the squad, itself. Whether that be certain players underperforming, attitude errors, perhaps both, or maybe a lack of viable options within the team to do the roles asked of them.

Either way, the Rossoneri find themselves in a challenging position, but Saturday offers them a chance to reduce the damage.

When Juventus travel to San Siro, they do so with a six point gap over the Diavolo. Depending on the 90 minutes of action, they could leave with a nine point gap, or have the current difference halved, which Fonseca needs.

Ahead of the game, former Bianconeri midfielder Marchisio spoke to TMW about the clash, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

On the Serie A championship…

“I didn’t expect it, the current league table is reminiscent of the 7 sisters league. We are witnessing an entertaining and exciting championship.”

On Milan-Juve…

“It will be a great match, they will face two teams that are both coming from a good moment. There are important points up for grabs, the league table today is very short and we can’t lose on the road. In my opinion whoever will be better at not losing points between now and Christmas will then benefit in 2025’.

On the Milan-Juve challenge in terms of singles…

“Between Di Gregorio and Maignan, I choose Di Gregorio, between Cambiaso and Theo I say Cambiaso, between Reijnders and Koopmeiners I say Reijnders, between Yildiz and Leao I say Yildiz, between Vlahovic and Morata I say Morata.”

  1. One of the Villains, main reason for azzurri downfall, can’t forgive his stupid tackle against Uruguay, last World Cup game for Italy.

    Extremely overrated player.
