Beppe Marotta has urged Italian authorities to speed up the stadium bureaucracy, seeing as AC Milan and Inter are ready to invest €2bn in the project.
It has been six months since Milan and Inter signed the deed with the city council, officially purchasing the Giuseppe Meazza stadium and the surrounding area. However, there hasn’t exactly been loads of visible progress since, which is mainly due to the extensive bureaucracy.

€2bn investment blocked
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Inter’s president Beppe Marotta was asked about the stadium project and whether any progress has been made. His answer seemingly suggests that they have some way to go still.
“It must be done! The new stadium must be modern, welcoming, and safe, as well as a symbol of belonging. On our part, as on AC Milan’s, there is a strong and determined will.
“The paradox is that the two owners, Oaktree and RedBird, are ready to invest nearly €2bn, yet obstacles continue to arise that slow down and impede the process.
“The stadium in Milan should be considered a major public project and placed under the aegis of the Ministry of Infrastructure. Streamlining bureaucracy is a priority,” he stated.
