Journalist claims Massa and Di Bello made ‘clear, indisputable’ errors in ‘scandalous’ display

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan continue to be penalised by refereeing errors which is affecting their position in the standings and in the top four battle, a journalist has claimed.

Bologna took the lead after just 33 seconds through Nicola Sansone as Milan were asleep at the back, but upon replay it seemed as though Fode Ballo-Toure was brought down in the build-up to the goal. Though it was reviewed, the goal stood.

Then there were three penalty shouts for Milan too, with Ante Rebic seemingly stamped on inside the area, then Alexis Saelemaekers tangled legs with Dominguez and right at the end the ball hit Lucumi’s outstretched arm inside the box.

Longoni spoke during his weekly column for MilanNews the day after the 1-1 draw against Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara which was certainly not without controversy for the reasons mentioned above.

“Milan are missing another 2 points. Clear, indisputable, clear count. In Bologna we witnessed a scandalous refereeing: by Massa on the pitch and by Di Bello in the VAR room,” he said.

“On the Bologna goal there is an initial foul on Ballo-Tourè: Aebischer hooks him with his arm, the goal had to be disallowed. Then the episode of the missed penalty on Rebic: a step on his foot by Soumaoro that the referee may not see, but which the VAR cannot ignore and judged as regular.

“Right at the end the Bologna player touched the ball with his arm wide, too wide. Here too the penalty was missing. We reiterate that Milan are missing 2 points, without ifs and buts. It is clear that Thiago Motta is not happy to admit it publicly, but his statements are embarrassing.

“Let’s remember that even against Empoli there was a penalty foul by Fazzini on Theo: in the last period Milan are quite unlucky in terms of refereeing.

“The race for a placement for the next Champions League is now becoming quite complicated, even for Milan’s own demerits, mind you, but lately the whistle factor has been proving to be decisive.”

  1. No need to worry about the quality of the referee. out of reach and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Everything is meaningless, as long as we can defend and score goals.

  2. these clowns should look an extra time over their shoulders when out publcly but its one thing that the refs misses the obvious fouls but another thing is that var calls pretty often and in these caes as well isnt called when they clearly should be checked.
Im generally not much into any kind of conspiracy theories but as time passes this looks looks odd and as someone else said here on sempremilan yesterday its a pattern,
