Massara highlights importance of Coppa Italia; provides update on Ibrahimovic’s future

With less than 30 minutes to go until kick-off between AC Milan and Juventus, sporting director Ricky Massara spoke to Rai Sport (via MilanNews.it) about the Rossoneri’s situation and the importance of Coppa Italia.

Following the loss against Inter, Milan will be looking to bounce back with a good result this evening in front of 70K at San Siro. As it’s two-legged affair, it will be crucial not to concede too many goals, although Juventus are a tough opponent.

In the interview, Massara stressed that they are keen on going far in the competition, although the main focus is on the league. Furthermore, he also provided an update on the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been a success lately.

On tonight’s match: “It’s an important game, a competition that interests us very much. We must try to reach the final. With Juve, it’s a game of great tradition in front of a wonderful audience.”

On the Coppa Italia: “We care about it and we want to move forward, aware that it’s a game played in two acts. Tonight we have to make a good performance, in line with that of the derby but with a different result. We must give more because Juve are a very strong team.”

On the European race: “The games will all be important from here to the end. This is a different competition, but we still have many games to play in the league. We are recovering and we want to continue like this.”

On the future of Ibrahimovic: “He is doing extraordinary things, it will be his evaluation in seeing how he feels and how he wants to continue. We are happy to have him with us, he is a champion who always makes the difference.”

The game will be broadcasted on Lega Serie A’s official Twitter page (the English version). However, the stream will only be available in countries where no other provider has the rights to the competition.
