Massara reveals Milan were once interested in Rennes star: “I wanted him”

It has been a year since Frederic Massara has been involved with football after his sacking from his role at AC Milan, and at his unveiling at Stade Rennais, he revealed the Rossoneri were once interested in one of his new team’s players.

Last year, the club parted with Paolo Maldini and Massara in a decision which signified Milan’s decision to create a new face of the management at the club, which we now see regularly with Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada, and more recently, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic’s role at the club still lacks some clarity, and he is quite omnipresent across all areas of the club, from management to the mercato, as we have seen more in recent weeks with his impact on the Alvaro Morata deal.

Massara spoke to the press during his presentation as Stade Rennais’ new sporting director and revealed Milan’s interest in one of the Rennes players, and his words have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“I have appreciated Benjamin Bourigeaud for years, I have tried to sign him in the clubs where I have been in the past and I wanted to bring him to the Rossoneri. So no, I do not want to sell him, he is a player I count on personally, the club also as well as the coach: he is an important player.”
