“With what he’s doing” – Materazzi claims Ibrahimovic is Inter’s greatest player after current events

If things weren’t embarrassing for AC Milan, former Inter defender Marco Materazzi has thanked Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his actions. 

It has been almost four weeks since Milan last had a sporting director in place. A statement which feels almost crazy to say at this moment. After all, they are only really being shielded by the World Cup.

Nevertheless, others around them are still making movements and there can be criticism given for the situation which the Rossoneri are struggling to remove themselves from.

Ultimately, they have had two options effectively wrapped up and then rejected them at the last minute; firstly, Ralf Rangnick and then Markus Krösche.

Materazzi thanks Ibrahimovic

The rejection from the former was largely due to Ibrahimovic’s view of him, if reports are to be believed. With the situation almost becoming farcical, Materazzi has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport and praised the Swede on behalf of the club’s City rivals, as MilanNews relays.

“For me, it [their rivalry] was just things on the pitch, but I can’t say anything to him because he’s the greatest Inter Milan player in history with what he’s doing.”
