Mattino: Milan make move for Serie A striker – potential €15m deal

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have shown serious interest in signing Senegalese forward Boulaye Dia from Salernitana in a deal that could end up reaching €15m, a report claims.

As has been reported by Il Mattino (via Milan News), the Rossoneri have requested a bit more information from Salernitana about what it would take to sign him in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old Dia was one of the best strikers in Serie A during the 2022/23 season whilst on loan from Villarreal. He managed to net 16 league goals and he also got six assists.

That form led Salernitana to pay the €12m needed to make the loan deal permanent, but 2023/24 has not been as successful for Dia or the team.

He is currently injured and has only got four goals so far from 13 appearances. Given the drop in form and his age, it is a move that would come with risk for Milan.

The release clause in his Salernitana contract is €21m but Milan have told the Granata sporting director Walter Sabatini that they won’t meet that valuation.

The Rossoneri think €15m is a fairer price and Salernitana may decide to cash in on Dia through fear of his value declining over the course of the season.

  1. The fúck is with this club and it’s obsession with strikers? Honestly, if they don’t buy or loan a striker each transfer window they aren’t healthy

  2. Although he’s not needed urgently I do like Dia more than some other strikers Milan has been linked with…
This issue is he isn’t an upgrade on what Milan have, maybe if they don’t want to take up up Jovic in the summer he’d be solid replacement

  3. Dia : 27yo, 21m price, 4/13 goals & injured,
    vs Guirassy : 27yo, 17m price, 17/14 goals, it’s obvious.
great director not just be good in finding cheap hidden gem but also must be faster & smarter in biding war,
uncle faster, Braida, Leonardo & Maldini they get Basten, Weah, Nesta, Sheva, Kaka, Ibra, Theo, Mike, Tonali not because good scouting (not needed)

  4. I don’t but it. Misdirection.

So we’ll spend 15m for an old player who is mediocre at best.

You think this guy is going to lead us to the CL? or Serie A? or even the coppia?

Milan knows they need to sign a real forward. No Dia or Zirkee’s or whatever other cheapo talentless option there is. I’d rather give a shot to Colombo next year.

If Moncada signs this guy, he is an absolute joke. “Moneyball” at it’s finest.
