Il Mattino: A ‘teasing’ prospect – Milan ‘express interest’ in Napoli striker

Since the start of the summer mercato, AC Milan have been pursuing a second striker to add to their attacking line, and recently, a new option has arisen, according to a new report.

It has been months since the idea of a three-striker group emerged at Casa Milan, but there has not been any success in bringing this idea to life as of now. Currently, the Rossoneri have Luka Jovic and Alvaro Morata as their strikers, and Francesco Camarda could be the third option for Paulo Fonseca. However, other options could arise.

Recent reports have suggested that Jovic could be shown the door, even after signing a new contract at the start of the summer. Therefore, Camarda could still be the third choice. Alternatively, Jovic may remain, so Camarda could be used sporadically, allowing him to focus on the Futuro squad and minimise pressure.

Regardless of who the third striker may be, the Rossoneri are still looking to the mercato for another option, and reports from Il Mattino (via Pianeta Milan) have suggested that Giovanni Simeone has not convinced Antonio Conte, so they will sell him – and the Diavolo have ‘expressed’ an interest.

After scoring three times and assisting once last season, the club are not opposed to him leaving, and a loan formula could be conceived, which is a teasing prospect for Milan as they seek a low-cost striker.

  1. I’d rather we go for Pinamonti if we are doing low cost. He was more productive than Simeone, who has faded in recent years.

    1. I like Pinamonti as well, but seeing as Sassuolo paid 20M for him and that he scored 15 goals in Serie A, I doubt Sassuolo would do business for anything less than that, if not a for little more, like 25-30M. They are tough to negotiate with and always extract max value for their stars. I also think they would rather keep him for another season in a bid to return to Serie A, as they have him under contract until 2027. We might have more luck with getting Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese, who has a similar profile and is two years younger. Maybe instead of spending 20M on the unneeded Samardzic, we could use that on Lucca instead.

    1. Are we really after a “sensational” #9 this summer tho??

Morata, Abraham, Fulkrug etc…none are “sensational” – all are rather “serviceable” at this point. Tammy could be the best of the bunch but that is assuming he comes back to form after a huge injury – a big “if”.

So I hardly think we are that ambitious with this management/ownership to go after a “sensational” #9 unfortunately. We missed that boat on going after such a player and are now left with what we are now – Tammy – a question mark of a player with injury history.

  2. Lol I wrote a month ago that we would end up with another run of mill striker besides Morata. And the names I said were Retegui, Raspadori or Simeone, all of them of the same caliber as Morata or Tammy. Hopefully only way cheaper and we can use that money renewing the few good players we have.

  3. Really should have tried Origi in pre season or given Colombo a shot here, shouldn’t we…..

That said, we should be able to make something work with Morata, Jovic, Okafor and Camarda.

      1. Yeah Origi is overweight and overpaid. Gotta cut that guy lose somehow.

Given Morata is undoubtedly first choice, I don’t mind taking a punt on Simeone as backup, especially if it’s a loan-with-buy-option kind of arrangement

      2. Give Okafor and Jovic a chance plzzzzz…. spend money elsewhere… love Tammy but already got Morata …so give them a chance

  4. Our management knows the garbage game they are playing and this will also give upper hand to our opponents who have younger and determined talent strikers while we depend on Morata who’s old to win everything for us? We are joking and now the papers are always talking about Jovic that or this. He’s not Milan problem but our management
The transfer will soon end without Milan buying any class striker. We are jokers and can’t wait to see their faces when we lose to Inter

    1. Lmao we already signed a top level striker. His name is Morata. So much for being a joker. Morata is old huh? He’s 31. Guess we should have paid 27 million for Fulkrug who is also 31.
