‘I will lead Milan’ – Russian source makes bold claim regarding Sarri’s future

By Oliver Fisher -

Maurizio Sarri has turned down a job in Russia because he will be taking over at AC Milan ahead of next season, according to a report.

The Russian website Championat (via TMW) has this morning published a report regarding who might be the next head coach of Spartak Moscow and they claim that Sarri was contacted regarding the job.

As a reminder, Sarri is currently without a club after he left Lazio a few weeks ago, but the source explains that the Italian declined the proposal because he has a more interesting proposal on the table.

Going into the details of the news, journalist Maxim Nikitin spoke about Sarri in a wider update regarding the future Spartak coach, given they are sixth in the league and could sack young Spanish coach Guillermo Abascal.

“The list of potential Spartak coaches is wide and long and there are interesting names. For example Maurizio Sarri who is not just someone’s dream: he was actually on the list because he is currently not working but, as far as I know, Sarri said: ‘Guys, in the summer I will lead Milan’. And Spartak is less interesting for him,” Nikitin said.

However, we must take this report with a pinch of salt, especially given what more reliable sources have said. For example, according to a report from the Sky website earlier in the month, Pioli has produced enough positive form in the second half of the season to keep his position.

        1. 😀 that was actually pretty funny Vero, thread lightly though you might be deemed an subversive extremist according to the little man in power 😛

        2. Reasons why you can’t trust Russian state controlled media? mmm lets see
Perhaps it was denying they were going to invade a sovereign country and did just that, or perhaps how after they invaded they maintained there was no war just a “special operation”

Of course Sarri is not going to join them because he like most people are abhorred by what Russia is doing in the world/Ukraine, aside from the fact it is illegal to do business with them. Their sport and football is doomed as they cannot compete, so they have no news. This is just a fanciful way of pretending Russia is a civilized country.

    1. SARRI won a Premier League Trophy the most difficult championship in the world, in addition to an EUROPA LEAGUE, also a Scudetto

PIOLI has never won a final, he is a good coach very calm and composed coach with his players, though it’s difficult to imagine him pulling off in a finale.

PS: I’m not meaning meaning he is a World Class Coach, though he has a better game more easy in the eyes than the Pioli One, Having a Foreign Experience with titles english and europa league, Yeah HE IS WAY MORE Competent than Pioli

      1. Sarri didn’t win a Premier League title. Look it up. And second he flopped pretty hard with Lazio. You’re out of your mind.

        1. Also Mourinho was once a great coach and it doesn’t mean he is today. Sarri his last season with Lazio was so bad he had to resign. Dumped out of the Europa League and then even dumped out of the Conference League in the end. No he’s not any better than Pioli. And Pioli at least knows this team and the players.

  1. Russain sources 😆
I guess it’s progress, they could have use their go to move and call him a na*i after he turned them down.

  2. I don’t think he will be stupid enough to run off his mouth if it was true. But I am curious to see if this is even a consideration and where this possibility is going. I like him…he has a clearly defined style of play. There are not many options out there if Pioli’s yo yo results flare up again. Rather him than Conte..

  3. No chance for pioli out as long as ACM finish in CL spot or winning EL trophy. Sarri good coach and not demanding star player also have experience win EPL ,scudetto ,and EL maybe in 2025 he is more realistic target for ACM rather than fans dreaming klopp or pep coming to ACM as coach
