Official: Maximilian Ibrahimovic leaves Milan on permanent deal to join Jong AZ

This afternoon, it was confirmed that Maximilian Ibrahimovic has joined Jong AZ, the AZ Alkmaar youth team, from AC Milan.

Having spent last season with Jong Ajax, Ibrahimovic has never seemed to be considered by Ruben Amorim or the Futuro set-up for a step up to the first team this season. Indeed, those players of interest already seem to be clear at Milan.

However, he remains a young prospect who can grow for the future and moving away from the Rossoneri could certainly be a good move for his career to lessen the pressure.

Ibrahimovic joins Jong AZ

His return to the Netherlands was confirmed by AZ Alkmaar on their official website, as relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“Maximilian Ibrahimović is being allowed to recover from a minor injury and eventually join Jong AZ. It is not yet clear when the nineteen-year-old forward will return to the pitch.

“When that moment arrives, he will be given the opportunity to develop further, with the confidence that he can be of value to the club in the long run.”

For what it’s worth, there is no confirmation from AZ in their statement whether the move is a permanent one or a loan deal.

However, Daniele Longo relays the statement from Milan that the move is permanent, meaning there are only two Ibrahimovic’s left at the Diavolo.

  1. You guys are truly pathetic and seem to be under 20 all of you. Disgusting behaviour. The kid has done nothing wrong. Some AC Milan fans are truly sick…

  2. Well we will never know who complained to his dad about not getting playing time that got his coach fired. Will we?
