AC Milan and Inter have been trying for many years to get the permissions needed to build a new stadium. However, the city council has been far from easy to deal with and there is still no complete agreement.
The two Milan clubs are eager to get a new stadium, that is fully owned by the club, as this means more revenue. As things stand with San Siro, they are forced to give up a lot of revenue to the city council.
During a recent press conference, as cited by MilanNews, Milan mayor Beppe Sala was asked about the matter. He provided a very standard response but also added that the clubs won’t get the green light without his permission.
“Inter and Milan asked me to meet them and I will do so soon, then it will be time to decide. Not everyone sees it in the same way, but everyone knows what the rule is: if you don’t arrive at a synthesis, in the end, I decide,” he stated.
It remains to be seen if the new stadium will be accepted by the city council. There are many factors involved but in the end, it will be good for the city as well to get modern infrastructure, along with the work opportunities it will bring.
