AC Milan have not yet made a decision on the sporting director they want, which means there is a chance they may not find the right figure.
Milan’s search for a new figure to add into the management has become a bit of a farce, given that Fabio Paratici seemed to be the chosen one before talks fell apart in the decisive stages, and since then there is nothing to suggest any other alternative is close.
Igli Tare hasn’t been able to convince Furlani despite two face to face meetings, while Tony D’Amico remains under contract with Atalanta. Thus, new potential candidates could emerge in the coming days, potentially ones from abroad.
Pietro Mazzara has published his weekly column for MilanNews. In addition to giving an update on the San Donato land plus reflections on the game against Venezia, he spoke about the key issue of the new director.
“The topic of the new sporting director is always a hot topic in the Milanese news. Regardless of whether there have been meetings or not, the situation is as follows: Milan have not yet made a final decision on the profile that will fill that role,” he said.
“And even if they have made one, they will not announce it now, but will wait until the end of the season. That is what they decided at Casa Milan, where the evaluations of the profiles are still underway.
“Igli Tare was liked, but Tony D’Amico of Atalanta is also liked, but it is fair to say that even recently there have been contacts with foreign profiles in a round of 360-degree interviews.
“Is there a chance that Milan, at the end of this casting, will not find the right figure? The answer is yes, there is also this option even if its percentages – as of April 28 – are low. We will see.”
I rather think Furlani wasn’t able to convince Tare.
I would prefer a foreign director over any of the domestic options available right now. Igli Tare is mid, and Atalanta’s success can be attributed to Gasparini alone, rather than Tony D’Amico.
Milan needs courage in the leadership. The lack thereof is a cultural problem in Italy, hence why we need to look abroard. Milan needs a mental transformation, and a new outlook to help the youth project. I say get a director AND a coach from Germany. Thomas Falkenberg from Stuttgart as Sporting Director, and lets see if he can persuade Jürgen Klopp to join as Manager 🤞
Everything that was domestic in this club they fired or sold. And they replaced it with foreign.
Now tell me, how’s that working out for our “project”?
Every club in front of us on the chart have a domestic manager and SD.
Must we continue to dwell on maldini and co…….we are talking of the future not the past,if maldini was that too good, how come top level clubs haven’t hired him
What are you babbling about, where did I even mention Maldini? But if you started, I’ll gladly bounce on this. Didn’t we win Scudetto and played CL semis with him in charge? All this in 3 seasons only? Guess what season we’re playing under RedBird now. Yes.
Future? Oh you mean the one where we’re finishing our season on 9th spot and out of CL spot? Or the one where we are already in May and we still have no clue who or even if there will be a proper SD taking over. I’m glad someone is excited about the future RedBird are creating. Exciting times ahead.
People mentioning Maldini’s name in 2025 are just cringe. We are almost half way through the year, move the fck on boys.
This is all a dirty scam by that dirty rat furlani. He is pretending to search for a new sporting director but doing his best to ensure post remains empty so he wll continue to have absolute control and command inside milan.
With that dirty rat around there is no hope for milan.
