AC Milan have several problems that need fixing and with the January mercato around the corner, Pietro Mazzara has spoken about what the club may target.
It is still early doors (ish), but whether Milan’s summer window can be viewed as successful is unlikely. Youssouf Fofana’s arrival is a huge positive, the midfielder has entered the Reijnders category of importance, but whether his addition is enough to distract everyone from other additions is debatable.
The verdict is still out on Alvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham, Strahinja Pavlovic and Emerson Royal, but so far there has been more questionable than good moments from them, unfortunately.
This leaves the Rossoneri with a job to do in January as Paulo Fonseca’s team sit eighth in Serie A. So with this in mind, Mazzara spoke on Milan News about the potential investments that could be made in January, and it seems the Rossoneri are focusing on one area.
“Nobody likes the current scenario. The players don’t like it, the fans don’t like it, the critics don’t like it. No one can be happy with the position in the standings and the game expressed. We are a long way from the concept of the ‘dominant game’ that Paulo Fonseca wants (or would like), with a team that is far from being as complete as they might have believed in the summer. Interventions will be needed as early as January, especially in midfield.
“The feeling is in the air that the shots could be two, but it will also have to be seen who will be taken because Milan, today, cannot afford bets but need reliable players who will help the team to rise in the rankings to rejoin the Champions League train, fundamental to keep alive a certain economic balance at the budget level.
“The Scudetto of numbers, today but also tomorrow, will only interest managers. The fan, as is evident elsewhere, is not interested in becoming an accountant of his passion. And in order to give enthusiasm, ‘Milan-like’ moves are needed, even on an economic level.
“In the summer, then, the striker question will have to be re-evaluated again because Morata is anything but the 25-goal-a-season bomber that Milan have been missing for some time.”
This article is so poorly translated. I’ve no idea what it was about.
What is Milan like moves anyway? We haven’t made any moves in 20 years.
Apart from bonucci who was a total flop the only champion we bought was ibra in 11/12 and he cost only 24M.
Milan like moves.
They better get Berardi and either Ricci/Frendrup.
Berardi offers guarantees in g/a, offers experience and leadership. Besides of being able to instantly take Chukwuezes spot on the right wing he can also be fielded up front if needed.
Ricci and Frendrup both is pretty young but would offer great solidity in regard of our defense and even going forward as well.
I doubt either of these 3 players will join us but for now I’ll at least hope for the best but I’m probably bound to get disappointed.
Please Acmilan management pump money into our transfer because we must win champions league and also qualify for champions league and also serie a we need Ryan cherki and mastureno,Warren Bondo, replace Okafor with Armand lauriente only no problem then we sell Emerson. tomori or Calabria will play the right back
😀 Yeah sure. Cherki would be a fine addition though but we are not gonna fight for anything this season. At most the coppa Italia or super coppa. Thats is regardless of whoever joins us but we should nevertheless try to push for cl qualification.
LOL BERRARDI LEADER? When in his life he has led something.
The guy has been a captain for years you freaking clown so yeah he has some much needed leadership skills whether you recognize it or not.
Leader or not but we could use his 15 goals and 15 assists each season.
i would prefer fendrup we are more in a need of a cam then cdms
Frendrup isn’t a cam he is the player with most tackles won and balls retrieved last year in Serie A. If anything he is a cm with great defensive and ball wining skills.
None of them is good enough. Check at Pobega how good he has been in Bologna, or Adli in Fiorentina. Zeroli is better than both of these two. What we need is a right back to get rid of Emerson Royal and a real offensive player to get rid of Abraham. With Bennacer back, things will improve in 2025. The best would be of course to get rid of Carnevale if some rich man takes over the team.
Frendrup was the player with the most tackles won in the entire Serie A last season almost eclipsing nr.2 in the league with twice as many tackles won. He was also the player who won the most balls back so he clearly could be good enough for us. In fact I’d argue he is exactly what we need and despite his young age he is also a fairly experienced player as he played nearly 100 matches for Brømdby in Denmark before joining Genoa and now has amassed roughly the same for them and still is 23 years old.
I was one of the few Milan fans around here who wanted us to keep Pobega and Zeroli isnt as good as him at least not yet so I disagree with your assessments there.
Abraham isn’t even owned by us as he is on a loan. Royal though I’m afraid to say that he at the bare minimum will stay for another season if not his full contract.
we had De Ketelare
No man, the comment analyst say he is a bad player. 10G + 9A this half season, horrible. Good that Milan lost money on him, makes sense.
Start throwing in a few of the kids. This seasons fate is pretty much sealed.
Agreed let’s see if we have a gem like yamal or something close to it
It stuns me how we have “the kids” consistently losing in Serie C and the answer is to give them a chance in Serie A.
How does one develop getting crushed by the big boys on a consistent basis? This is a coded way to say, “Let’s squander our future.” Even Camarda is only somewhat effective as he gets bossed off his position frequently.
Liberali was clearly out-physcialled against Genoa but was also full of promise. He needs to go back to C and apply what he learned. That could look like bulking up a bit, making quicker decisions etc. Then he comes up in a month for a small side and measures how he is doing. You know … measured development of talent?
Why are we giving up on 4th? There are still 21 games to go. 4th + a UCL semi equals our “vaunted” post Scudetto season. Throw in a Copa or SuperCopa and suddenly it is much better as a season. (I’m gonna mention we were actually 5th then Juve got popped for 10 points, so if we were to finish 4th if would be _even better_)
How about we not burn down our chances this soon in the season?
How about we continue to develop our youngsters as Fonseca gives more of them more opportunity. (Camarda, Liberali & Jimenez) Clearly he is willing, and clearly the likes of Vos, Zeroli et al are not yet ready in his eyes even if we are desperate for depth in the midfield.
Fonseca inherited a team that was a mess. It’s “leaders” were anything but “leaders” (excepting Calabria).
Did anyone notice in the Hellas game that Theo didn’t flop once? He certainly wasn’t a shining beacon of world class, but he seems to have already lost that “flopping fish” BS. Maybe he is re-learning what it means to play the game rather than play the ref? Takes time right? Turns out another podcast did mention this same thing. So pretty sure I was not hallucinating.
I am coming to believe Fonzy is not the guy to lead us to the heights we want. But FFS, giving a guy a cesspool and asking when your children will be safe to take a swim after 6 months seems like purposefully wanting to be angry.
Florenzi is the only true leader (excl. GK) in the team and he’ll still be out for 2 more months. Calabria? Well… Not so much BUT still the one with most credibility with Morata. If Calabria is our leader it really tells how deep in sh1te we are.
Fully agree this is a stupid article that makes no sense at all!!!!
One thing is sure about milan – no interest to win the scudetto but only to qualify for champions league.
That is what cardinale is interested in …… what a poor yankee …..
“Milan, today, cannot afford bets but need reliable players who will help the team to rise in the rankings to rejoin the Champions League train, fundamental to keep alive a certain economic balance at the budget level.”
So… If Emerson has brothers, Milan will probably end up buying them and raise the level. 🙂
