Mbappe says treatment of Donnarumma ‘was a bit too much’ after defeat to Milan

By Euan Burns -

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe believes that the treatment of Gianluigi Donnarumma by AC Milan fans was ‘a bit too much’ but the players rallied around him.

Speaking after the match to TeleLombardia in the mixed zone (via Milan News), the French player was asked about the fake money that rained down on Donnarumma from the stands as the game got underway at San Siro.

Having been booed and whistled in the build-up to the match, the former Milan goalkeeper who Milan fans have very strong feelings about was seen trying to move the fake money away from his goal.

Mbappe explained that the team defended Donnarumma as much as they could before and during the game, but these things are a part of football in the modern age.

“There was a lot of noise and they gave Gigio quite a difficult reception. I think it was a bit too much, but there you go, that’s football nowadays. Fans do what they want, we can’t know what they feel inside. We protected Gigio as much as we could and we feel sorry for him this evening,” Mbappe said.

Milan won the game 2-1 with goals from Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud after Milan Skriniar had put the visitors ahead early on.

  1. Wait until he leaves PSG for no fee to Real Madrid for his reception. Granted, he never proclaimed his love for PSG like Donnarumma did for AC Milan, but still not going to be pretty!

    1. Eh, the fact that he’s at PSG in the first place has to do with money, otherwise he’d have gone from Monaco straight to the EPL or one of Madrid or Barca. I think the difference is that Milan is a club with pedigree that has existed for over 100 years, while PSG was founded in 1970 and was irrelevant until it was flooded with petrodollars, hence our fans know what tradition and respect for the colors are about, while PSG are a McClub.

    1. Both of Milan’s goals were very saveable.

Just about anything short of throwing something that could hurt someone is fair game. If anyone deserves to be showered with abuse it is that ahole.

      1. First goal:
He dive toward money instead of the ball.

        Second goal:
Lost focus due to P$G defender’s theatrical attempt.

        🤣🤣🤣

      2. Grow up, and grow a pair of balls. If you don’t like someone you don’t have to lie and make up things. He was quite good last night.

  2. Puuh es reicht solangsam meine milan Geschwister. Es wird unfair.
Wenn Ihr wollt dann ärgert lieber Hakan.
    Gigio redet immer positiv.

  3. Donnarumma should just praise himself lucky that he isnt figo then he would have had a pigs head thrown after him and that was in 2000 when he joined real madrid from barcelona so its not really a new thing mr mbappe.
Whats new in modern age football is players getting insanely overpaid and still has no respect or loyalty in their veins while the common man has to pay increasingly more for their party.
He got what he deserved and if he ever plays here again i hope he will get the same treatment again.

    1. Awww man the classic pigs head. Man you brought back some memories there Martin. I also still watch the major derbies too including el.classico all the way up to rangers-celtic (when it was good)

      1. When i was younger i pretty much watched everything football related but nowadays its mostly milan and denmarks international matches and if there is a big international tournament but yeah that pighead one is a classic 😀 I might watch some sporadic games though from epl or bundesliga from time to time but never realy watched much la liga stuff except when michael laudrup was there.

        1. Strangely on Monday I was watching Inter vs Barca 1-0 second leg semi at the camp nou and how Jose organized the team to play against the tiki taka which at the time was running football like crazy. I also saw how Pep implemented his 433 at the time. I’d say it’s different now except that he still keeps his wingers wide until the final ball. Jose countered with 3 DMs in between the back four defenders (so it formed a wall visually and eliminated the 1-2 passing diagonally). The discipline they had to maintain that shape throughout the match was insane.

        2. Oh believe me I hate both. I used to watch Barca before they became full of themselves around 2006 (dinhi and prior and when Reizeger and DeBoer brothers used to get smoked in the el Classico but when tiki taka, Busquets dives and swarming the referee for cards and penalties became fashion I stopped watching). I hated that for such a “big” club with players of skill had to resort to especially the swarming the ref tactic. While we let our skill shine. I Only look at that game to see defenses and setups.

  4. Haha so much frustration for Mbappé these days, no Ballon d’Or, poor defensive play at Paris, two harsh losses in UCL against Newcastle and Milan. I love him but he’s not fair here, he was criticised a week ago for his celebration towards the opposing fans against Brest and he said “if you don’t like mockery, you never played football”.

He could have said that about the stabbed PSG fan in Navigli or the PSG fan who tried to enter San Siro with a 22-centimeter blade in his bag. Those behaviours are properly disgusting.

  5. Eversince he joined PSG, I thought it’d be so much joy if we can score goals against him somewhere. But after the last match, I couldn’t careless and winning felt like the only important thing. I had more joy watching that snake Hakan’s face when we won Scudetto. Maybe it’s also due to the fact that Gigio never said any bad words about Milan.

  6. Don’t care about Donna but was worried it would effect our own game because their box was filled with trash, there where thick rolls of money laying around.

  7. Well deserved cause he proclaimed love for Milan but did Milan dirty so he should enjoy every moment that’s what you get when you give fake love
    Forza Milan ❤️ 🖤

  8. Wait. So another words, what he’s saying is:

    decisions have consequences

Why do they only recognize their arrogance once they are affected negatively by it? Then it’s “sad”, but otherwise, it’s OK. Only when the shoe is on the other foot do they even have an inkling of thought about someone else affected by their actions? Nope.

The fans don’t make 20m a year, dollarumma does. The fans didn’t make the decision to leave without compensation so he could get more $$$, dollarumma did. The fans didn’t lie and say they were going to sign a new contract, dollarumma did. He lied to our face for years and then pocketed all the PSG money with Fatriola.

Dollarumma has only himself and his actions to blame. It’s not about leaving, it’s about the lies and the way that he left. He truly is a L’uomo di merda

  9. I loved MBappe’s smirk at the beginning of the game when they threw the money at Dollar hahahaha 😂😂😂. So many levels to the irony there….it’s like man I’m glad it’s not me but at the same time rethinking him moving for free to Real haha and then his inside Milan Fannin him might be thinking maybe I should come here to experience this sort of crowd 😂

    1. I thought i saw that too KWYDLS but completely forgot about it afterwards 😀 He should deffently join us and cardinale should at the very minimum see if the is some room for negotiations as he has already earned enough for a lifetiime so maybe theres a minute chance even though i doubt its in any way feasible.

      1. That’s exactly what I thought. He already has enough money. I think he’d love the atmosphere here and I think he can become a Kaka-like cult hero here and win us a UCL. Win games singlehandedly….Write himself in the history books. I have a feeling that’s on his mind. Gerry can find a 20-30m per year somewhere lol (I’m sure we’d make that back easily with the exposure). Can’t hurt to try

        1. I think he could win the balon d’or with us but i would guess that he would have to accept to go below 20 mil but still there would be the danger that other players would increase their demands as well but there really isnt anyone in our squad that i find comparable with him as he performs consistently and with far more impressive numbers and as i see it either he or halaand should have won the balon d’or instead of messi.
It would be an absolute statement signing from cardinale but the only way i think we will be able to sign him is if he values the club above money but he has said several times before that ac milan is the only italian club he would consider joining and that is at least a good sign in my book but talk is cheap so only time will tell if it ever happens,

          1. Yes true. Also I don’t know Messi won Balon d’Or tbh. It’s just a sh!t show of an award. It has to be Haaland imo. A
I also think MBappe at PSG hurts his chances of that award too. He’ll need a bigger club or one with significant history to which we are both. Real of course are front runners (prob a handful of other clubs he can scoop that award with tbh and I do mean handful) but I think we can have a shot

          2. Yeah messi shouldnt even be in top 3 as i see it but ballon d’or has lost a lot of credit in my book and over the last 15 years i think several players was robbed in the popularity contest between messi and and c.ronaldo.
as things stands and if we disregard other italian teams than milan then i would say madird, barca, liverpool, city, bayern is propably the clubs where i could see him potenially achieving it.

        2. Imagine the track team that would be Leao on the left, Pulisic on the right and Mbappe in the middle! Defenses would fear us all over Europe.

  10. I can bet that most of us here rubbishing Donna, will not have been half loyal as him if we were the ones in his shoes.

Let the man be!. This is life. Even if his sentiments for Ac Milan he claims to still have are false and staged, so what? It should be his problem, not our problem.

I agree with Mbappe. This Donna hate has become an unhealthy obsession.
