Mediaset: Chukwueze talks to continue but Milan face centre-forward dilemma

AC Milan have chosen Alvaro Morata as the man they want to be their main striker for next season, but it will not be an easy pursuit.

According to SportMediaset, the negotiation is complicated by two factors: the fact that Morata wants a high salary and that the Growth Decree does not apply meaning the full gross amount must be paid.

If it were up to Stefano Pioli and the management, Milan would take the field on August 19 for the first game against Bologna with the front three of Leao-Morata-Chukwueze.

However, the Spaniard earns €6.5m net per season though he would be willing to cut it to €5m. Morata wants to return to Italy, but Milan must also beware of the competition because Roma are keen and Paulo Dybala is his very close friend.

At the moment the chances of the former Juventus man joining Milan are slim, given many pieces must fall into place and not all of them depend on the Rossoneri’s will.

Gianluca Scamacca is an alternative. He is also wanted by Roma but at the moment West Ham are not open to a loan and instead they want to recoup most of the €42m they spent to sign him from Sassuolo last year.

In the last few hours, the name of Mehdi Taremi has emerged. The Porto striker has been prolific in the last couple of seasons and impressed at the last World Cup, however he is a non-EU player and this has an impact on other targets.

Speaking of which, Samuel Chukwueze is the man who has been chosen to be Rafael Leao’s opposite wingman given he has characteristics similar to the Portuguese.

The president of Villarreal – Fernando Roig – provoked Milan with a reference to the Musacchio negotiation, but Giorgio Furlani is not put off and he is trying to close the deal.

Daichi Kamada has been put on stand-by precisely because of the non-EU issue, the report adds.
