Mediaset: CSKA Moscow outline conditions for Vlasic deal – Milan line up €5m alternative

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing to try and work out a deal for Nikola Vlasic of CSKA Moscow but their alternative is a low-cost option, a report claims.

According to what Claudio Raimondi has told SportMediaset (via MilanNews), Milan are continuing their pursuit of a replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu, who decided not to renew and instead opted to join city rivals Inter on a free transfer.

Nikola Vlasic is the favoured target at the moment but for now there are no signs of opening from CSKA Moscow, as the Russian club are continuing to ask for a loan with the obligation to buy and not a conditional one based on qualification for the 2022-23 Champions League either.

However, the Milan management have already got a Plan B prepared, namely Josip Ilicic, for whom Atalanta are asking for €5m to let the 33-year-old go amid his non-idyllic relationship with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

  1. Most fans fail to understand Milan’s finacial state. If we are to challenge for the scudeto and go far in the champions league, we need Illic, because he is cheap, understands the league, with low wages, and a fantastic player (watch his dominance against Milan @ the San Siro). Plus, he still has like two years, with option of another in his legs. Above all, he will mentor our young ones, e.g. Diaz (should he stay afterwads), or till we can raise funds for a standard playmaker.
