Mediaset: De Rossi shows interest in Milan defender – potential Abraham makeweight

By Euan Burns -

AS Roma coach Daniele De Rossi is interested in signing Davide Calabria from AC Milan this summer and it could help to facilitate a move for Tammy Abraham in the other direction.

As reported by Sport Mediaset (via Milan News), the Roma coach, who is embarking on his first full season in charge of the Giallorossi, thinks that Calabria would be a valuable signing for his team.

There could be a transfer domino effect taking place very soon as Milan are getting very close to finding an agreement with Tottenham to sign Emerson Royal, another right-back.

Whilst there is no active desire to sell Calabria, there is scope for Milan to use the Italian right-back as part of the deal to sign Abraham from Roma.

Paulo Fonseca has told the club that he would like them to sign Abraham so that he can have two established Serie A strikers to choose from rather than just Alvaro Morata and Luka Jovic.

Noah Okafor, Jovic and Divock Origi have been mentioned as a counterpart in a deal for Abraham but it seems that Calabria is the player that really interested De Rossi rather than any of the aforementioned.

It remains to be seen whether Calabria would want to make that move or not, and it would almost certainly be dependent on Emerson arriving.

    1. The best swap deal would be Calabria for Kayode.
Both are Italians and right back then put management don’t need to buy Emerson Flop.

  1. That would not be a smart move by Milan. As far as Calabria, my feelings about him are mixed.

Just forget this whole business about Abraham. The only way we should sign him is on loan with option to buy. If Roma refuses, then go for Pinamonti instead. We just need a back up to Morata.

All this fuss over Tammy isn’t worth it.

    1. Jovic-Pinamonti is a huge downgrade. Both Jovic and Okafor are better than Pinamonti. I’m not even sure Abrahm is an upgrade of Jovic given the severe injury he had.

      1. Yea , I think Calabria is great from bench + he is in Milan more then 10 years… I know this is business but respect must be always…
And for me Abraham is not good for us, if they really want him, then yes, loan + options to buy , definitely not obligation

          1. You know Calabria don’t be on the bench every match, Royal will not play every match in such a long seasson, also he is not that good, a player for 15m €, not 50m.. both will foght for starting spot and this is good..
And now, when we have only Calabria on RB, with his experience he is good for us

    1. Agreed.
Sometimes I just don’t get the criticism. I’ll even bet most people who comment on him after games didn’t even watch the game

  2. Calabria is usually good in big matches. He’s a solid, international class defender. Abraham is a tall, injury prone choker.

    1. lol nice use of sarcasm, well done

Getting rid of Calabria would be great because his renewal is stalled (the guy wants double of what he earns God knows why) and he is absolutely useless in the team. Now, because of that Abraham in a permanent move here does not convince me…

    2. Roma fans saying how they are gonna puke if they get calabria, meanwhile we are calling him international class defender lmao. No serie a team wants him he only got intrest from galatasaray, meanwhile people here saying hes good for milan

  3. Calabria should stay period. We don’t know how good Emerson will be and Kalulu hasnt hit his form since Scudetto. People here have short term memory but Calabria always performs better when having competition.

  4. This team reminds me of Inter late 90s early 2000s when they barely had any Italians in the first team. Not against Calabria leaving as he’s been mediocre for the last couple of seasons, but bring in better quality players not f***** Emerson. This year UCL has more games in the group stages and knock out and we need 8 local players with 4 of them being home grown. We are getting rid of Calabria, Pobega, Florenzi and we already got rid of Maldini and Colombo

    1. Well Mourinho won treble with Inter and had no Italian in his starting 11. But yes I’m irritated by the lack of Italians as well.

      1. He had more Italian than we will have this season. Motta was an Italian starter, who only missed the final due to the unjust red card against Barca. He also had Toldo, Materazi, Santon, Balotelli who all contributed to their winning. We only have Gabbia, who I doubt will be a starter this season. Also their team is called Internazionale for a reason 😉

  5. I put Abraham in the same bracket as Royal. I absolutely don’t get the why Milan would be interested in these two. It’s sad that Milan always going for crumbs that didn’t hit their expected potential hoping we’ll get discounts.
Fonseca hasn’t even tried Okafor yet. Give me Okafor all day as CF over Abraham

  6. It’s straight up disgusting seeing our captain getting all the hate from so called fans and yet these same “fans” will call us fake and to find another club. Pathetic.
