Mediaset: Kabak, Simakan, Colombo and a striker – the latest on Milan’s mercato

By Oliver Fisher -

The January transfer window is just around the corner, and the general consensus is that there are some areas to strengthen to complete Milan’s squad.

According to what is being reported by broadcaster SportMediaset (via MilanLive), Milan are unlikely to buy a new striker in the winter window who would be a deputy to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swede’s substitutes will continue to be Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao, but the future of Lorenzo Colombo could change. The 18-year-old striker needs playing time to continue his development and therefore he could leave on loan.

They go on to add that a centre-back is almost certain to arrive with Schalke’s Ozan Kabak the favourite, while negotiations are underway also for Strasbourg’s Mohamed Simakan. These are the two names at the centre of Paolo Maldini’s attention, as both are very young and have a very high potential. The prices are more or less the same, and the feeling is that at least one of them will arrive, barring twists or surprises.
