Mediaset: Milan ‘big admirers’ of Sassuolo star as potential Leao replacement

Rafael Leao is yet to renew his contract and even though AC Milan are still optimistic, they have been forced to plan for a worst-case scenario. To replace the Portuguese winger, they have a Sassuolo star on their radar.

According to Mediaset, as cited by The Milan Zone, Milan remain optimistic in the talks with Leao but the responses have been lacking in the last few weeks. In case he doesn’t renew, the worst-case scenario, he could leave for around €80m in the summer.

Milan are ‘big admirers’ of Sassuolo winger Armand Lauriente, as per the report. He has scored seven goals and assisted an additional six for the Neroverdi this season and his price tag wouldn’t be outrageous.

In fact, as the report concludes, Milan would also afford to sign a striker with the money made from the Leao sale. Noah Okafor is perhaps at the top of the list but the Rossoneri also like Udinese striker Beto. The priority, however, remains to renew Leao.
