Mediaset: Milan agree contract terms with Zirkzee – the details

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have agreed on a salary and contract with Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee but are yet to make an official bid for the Dutchman.

As reported by Sport Mediaset (via Milan News), there won’t be any problems between Milan and Zirkzee when it comes to the contract as the 23-year-old will be paid €4.5m per season and there are bonuses that will take it to €5m.

There also won’t be a problem when it comes to the negotiation with Bologna because the release clause is set at €40m and that becomes active on July 1. It only runs until July 15 so Milan are expected to trigger it straight away. Bayern Munich are not interested in getting Zirkzee back.

The only problem now is the commission that the agent wants to receive. Reports claim that Zirkzee’s agent wants to be paid €15m for helping to facilitate the move.

The agent is called Kia Joorbachian and Milan are not interested in paying so much. It is part of the modern game to pay agents high fees, but the feeling is that Joorbachian is taking advantage of Milan paying below the odds for Zirkzee thanks to the release clause.

Were that release clause not about to become active, Milan would have to pay a lot more than €40m for Zirkzee.

  1. Part of the modern game? Or just a few agents getting greedy? No, commissions shouldn’t be 25%+ of the entire fee. That’s absurd. Especially for a player that had 12 goals last season.

    1. We literally have an owner who is a Wall Street trader. Agents get greedy, owners get greedy, it’s part of the modern game. We can say no, and we should if this agent doesn’t change his stance.

      1. Part of the modern game? Sit back and accept it? Naah, rules change. Even the football rules change every year. It’s time for FIFA & UEFA to stand up against the blood-sucking agents who are ruining the sports.

UEFA and EU praise themselves for promoting equality. How is that equal that the TOP-10 clubs in Europe can offer 100x more to the greedy agents to “lure” the player in and the smaller teams just have to accept “it’s part of the modern game”?

Remember Bosman rule when it came out? That’s what’s needed here for the agents. To stop them from ruining the sports and making it more about the moneymoney.

        1. Yeah maybe in a perfect world. UEFA is far from these considerations, they are the same money vampires than the agents. They’re too busy fighting to keep their privileges with the projects of Super League coming. They should regulate agents, multi-club ownerships, themselves, but it’s fantasy to think something will change. Maybe the governments can do something. The (adopted) son of Christophe Galtier, former coach of Lille and Paris, and his partners have been convicted yesterday by the French justice for illegal/criminal practices in players’ representation.

        2. It is pretty ridiculous. I think in most other sports the agents don’t negotiate their own fee with teams. The teams don’t pay the agent anything. They get a percentage either 5 or 10 percent of whatever the players deal is. This whole thing is such a scam. The player should just tell the agent, listen, this is where I want to go, if you can’t make that happen I will find someone else. A player should never let an agents demands block a deal from happening.

          1. Most of the players are young. No one ballzies up to their agents like that. Even Raiola used to bully Ibra around.

You’re 25, your agents gets you a nice salary and doesn’t cost you anything out of pocket. What do you care how he gets paid?

Players aren’t under duress to ditch agents. Now, if the agents fees came from the players percentages, then we could get somewhere.

          2. “The player should just tell the agent, listen, this is where I want to go, if you can’t make that happen I will find someone else. A player should never let an agents demands block a deal from happening.”

Absolutely this. And in theory, the agent should working FOR THE PLAYER and not vice-versa. The player’s will should be all that matters.

  2. Just bring CdK back as a false 9 if Atalanta don’t use their option, or give Noah more game time as the starting forward. I’m thinking €25m-€30m is more than fair for Zexy but well, the guy below me probably has something to say…

  3. To me Noah Okafor is better than this guy and the money is much to my liking, just give Noah much playing time and see then

    1. Okafor is a winger. Zirkzee is a powerful. They’re different types of player. Zirkzee can easily fill the Giroud / Ibrahimovic role.

  4. I remember donnarumma agent got 20m euro for helping moving donna to PSG free transfer. As long as there is club are willing to pay that greedy agent then this will not stop. FIFA must make new rule that agent fee cannot excess more than 10% from player market value

  5. Milan will end up paying around €10 million in agent’s fees. My guess is the crook Kia knows no other club will come in for Zirkzee this season so he’ll have to make a deal or risk getting nothing.

  6. 40m below the value? Zirkzee has scored 10 goals last season, not 20. He is a great player with incredible attacking playmaking qualities, but his finishing is average at best. Average shooting, weak header. The difference in finishing compared to Sesko, Gryogners and Guirassy is huge.

    1. It’s a risky move to try and call Milan’s bluff if there is no other serious interests for him. I think the agent knows something and will gladly take his client elsewhere if Milan doesn’t pay up. The player’s will is key, but if the agent stick to his guns, JZ will eventually accept another top offer elsewhere when time runs out. So Milan will have to make a call sooner rather than be caught with a closing mercato and no meaningful targets. Move on if you don’t want to pay

      1. The agent isn’t even negotiating the deal. There is already a price set and contract terms. They could just cut him out altogether.

    2. Sesko is terrible finisher. He’s wasteful. Chances are he’s another Werner. Zirkzee isn’t a bad finisher, nor is he bad in the air. He plays for BOLOGNA.

      1. Have you seen the way Sesko is shooting? His left shoot is powerful and precise. Zirkzee scores only with the inner part of his foot and from close range, he reminds me of Leao. Sesko conversion stats are significantly better than Zirkzee, he has 0.75 goals per match with 0.45 xg, Zirkzee 0.29 vs. 0.24. He is statistically an exceptional finisher. You probably watched only Real Madrid game.

  7. How is the agent “facilitating” the move? We’re triggering the release clause. The agent has had nothing to do with negotiating the transfer fee/convincing Bologna to sell. It’s so crazy. UEFA/FIFA need to fix this problem ASAP. Pin agent fees to a fixed percentage (say 10%) of the transfer fee + total contract, or in case it’s a contract renewal to the total value of the contract over the life of the contract. Ex. player transfers for 40M and gets 5M per year for five years (25M), agent gets 10%, so 4M + 2.5M for 7.5M total. Player renews for a 5 year contract at 5M per year (25M total), agent gets 10%, so 2.5M, etc. It doesn’t have to be 10% either, it can be 5%, whatever. Just make it a fixed rate.

  8. If you all noticed, I basically used the numbers being quoted for Zirkzee. 40M plus 5M salary (including bonuses) for 5 years (I’m assuming). Total outlay is thus 65M. If Joorabchian is asking for 15M, it’s basically equivalent to a 23% of the total outlay. A 23% fee!

  9. Agent is shooting for the starts and why not….
He’ll likely end up happily taking half for literally doing nothing but signing his name to a few documents.

  10. Issue isn’t the agent per se – although he is notorious for asking for outrageous commission’s and is difficult to deal with.

The issue is there is no set rules from UEFA on what agents can change. I agree w others it should be a cap – 5%, or even 10% max. But until there is the agent is playing within the rules. It is now up to the player to put pressure on his agent to accept less. Hopefully Zirkzee does that and we can get this done as we desperately need a #9.

Try and negotiate down as much as you can but if you can’t then just pay it and be done with it. 40M in today’s market for a starting caliber striker at his age and having experience in the league is a bargain. Get this done Georgie boy – no excuses

  11. This player will make a difference but not completely change the team. I am not surprised by this demand by an agent. We all saw how Mino Raiola used to operate. ACM should move ahead before we lose out again to Inter or someone else – just like all the other names thrown into the hat last season.

  12. Funny enough nobody is talking about origi😂😂

Like WTF are we gonna do with him, where is he heading to 🥲🥲

  13. Something is wrong with this system adopted by the footballing world, inasmuch as the agents work for the players and not the club: the players the agents are representing should be paying them from their pockets and if the club must pay this greedy agents then there must be an acceptable standard like five percent of the transfer fee of the player in question. It’s questionable that some agent are making dubious amount of money that some can even own a football club if they really wish. It seems pathetic that this agent are milking football without adding any valuable substance to it as the relationship between football and this sneaky agents is just parasitic like leeches.

  14. This guy will be a beast in a two striker formation with him operation slightly behind the main striker and for this reason it is worth changing for, especially if we can get him and Guissray. But getting him as a sole striker doesn’t actually convince me
