Mediaset: Milan and Chelsea expected to close midfielder deal soon despite €10m distance

Chelsea are asking for a very high fee in order to sell Tiemoue Bakayoko to AC Milan on loan with an option to buy, according to a report.

SportMediaset (via MilanLive) writes that Bakayoko is a target for Milan and would join as the fourth choice for the midfield behind Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer and Ismael Bennacer – in all likelihood as the deputy to the Ivorian given his physical characteristic.

His return to Milan has been rumoured for some time but an agreement could arrive today. Chelsea and Milan have reached an agreement over a paid loan of €1.5m with an option to buy at a figure yet to be defined. The Blues want it to be €30m, but the Rossoneri have no intention of going above €20m.

Given that the option to buy from his first loan back in 2018-19 was €35m, it seems a steep asking price from Chelsea for a player who has never really been in their plans.

  1. He did really well in transitioning the ball quickly & efficiently from defense to attack couple years ago, without that useless back-passing.

    Definitely a useful acquisition.

  2. On loan fine, but useless to pick up his option for 20-30M, that’s insane. Just buy Kamara outright on the cheap and you have a blue chip talent and direct Kessie replacement when he leaves for big $$bat Totenham…
