Mediaset: Milan turn attention to Fofana after Morata signing – gap to close with Monaco

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan will soon be focussing intently on the signing of Youssouf Fofana now that a deal has been reached with Alvaro Morata.

As reported by Sport Mediaset (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are still very serious about signing Fofana from Monaco and securing Morata means that more time and effort can be put into finding a deal with Monaco.

The French midfielder wants to move to Milan and already has an agreement with the club on personal terms, but Milan have so far bid beneath the €25m asking price.

The belief is that if Milan were to add around €4-5m to their bid, then Monaco would accept and another position that needs addressing in the market can be ticked off of the list.

The hope is that by signing Fofana, Milan will have a midfielder who can effectively screen the back four and offer them more protection than they had last season.

Paulo Fonseca started his first training sessions as the Milan boss by focusing on defensive drills and Fofana is certainly the kind of player he would love to have present in those sessions.

Having secured a striker like Morata for €13m, Milan may think it is worth giving Monaco what they want to get Fofana.

  1. Whatever, let’s start cooking here. Morata seems to be done. Let’s get the DM in. Keep an eye out for an additional ST; get the CB in; figure out if Bennacer is leaveing – add a regista. And whatever is happening with the RB situation.

more importantly: sort out the renewals.

  2. No hurry

Milan have stronger team than 2 years ago

With new addition sooner ol later we will be stronger than last year

  3. So risk loosing out on a good deal by being cheap when our finances suggest time is of the essence that is worth more than saving a bit of money? This never happened in the last calendar year…

    1. Iv been saying this from the beginning. We are being played like a fiddle.

These random moves are going to bite us when the season starts and we under perform

This site is filed by people who dont understand even the basics. No critical thinking.

For example they talk about stats as there proof that morata is a better player then zirkzee but instead the reality is zirkzee is worth more because he contributes more to the team play its so painfully obviously when you watch zirkzee play but Mr tapin is better because of the stats.

When we get this giroud like replacement and we are hitting a goal drought you will see the difference between a player who is a finisher to one who is a ball playing striker someone capable of unlocking defence and individual brilliance.

The reason zirkzee costs more is because he has a chance to become great like leao or any young player who has had to grow into being a goal scorer but with morata you get what you pay for.

It’s very disappointing to say the least

  4. This management are a joke they only picked morata not because of player profile or anything of the sort but rather because of opportunities this makes for a very messy squad with random players something similar to Chelsea. How do you go from a profile of zirkzee and the likes who were all ball carrying strikers who play as a link from the midfield and the attackers to morata who is like an inzaghi type striker who contributes nothing to a game if we are not in possession. Who doesn’t create who can’t beat a player 1 on 1. He’s essentially a poacher it makes no sense changing the player profile from with what the squad needs to what makes for a more profitable move.

This management are joke and I won’t accept morata no matter how many cardinale bots say otherwise.

These bots don’t even have any critical thinking. What ever move tye management make they are pleased with. Cardinale and his goons could sing a littral pig for strike and they’d talk about how well it plays in muddy conditions.

The only joke bigger then the management they are.

    1. Buddy, I don’t like the management either, but zirkee was worth 30mil maximum. 55mil plus wages is ridiculous. What would you say when he struggled to make the step up and bagged 8 goals all year? He’s not worth 55 in any world. Dobvyk was the best profile but he chose to stay put. Morata isn’t amazing but as a 2yr or so player with European experience who always hits double digits you can do FAR worse. Would you expect us to also pay 47mil for Calvert Lewin? Hype means nothing. Man utd also tried to hype up Hojlund and he had what, 8 goals? All season? A proven number 9 is what we just lost, and what we needed to replace. Stop acting like Zirkee was gonna be a world beater. He wasn’t even good enough for a bang average Dutch team

      1. That’s what I said. Zirkzee is 3rd or even 4th degree striker on the Netherlands team. Morata is a known quantity and we want a real 9, not a false one. Zirk will not play 1st striker in Man U’s formation. I like Morata better Zirk especially in a 4-2-3-1 formation, where Zirk’s style will not allow him to be the lone striker. Zirk may be a better fit in a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.

    2. It doesn’t matter what you accept. Management did the correct thing in refusing to pay a €15 million commission for Zirkzee. They learned the lessons from Donnarumma and Kessie. Morata and maybe Fulkrug improve the attack significantly and it should be obvious from the amount of money being invested in young players that the short-term plan is to get Camarda, Zeroli, Liberali, Scotti etc into the first team. The €20+ million that has been spent on Futuro is more benefical than lining the pockets of agents so it is you who lacks critical thinking. Cardinale bots? Stop embarrassing yourself with third world conspiracy theories.
