Mediaset: Milan €10m short in offer for main target – new bid could be submitted on Friday

Directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara are at work to give head coach Stefano Pioli a defensive reinforcement, but it is not proving to be easy.

According to the latest from SportMediaset (via MilanLive), the first choice in Wesley Fofana is now gone as he will join Leicester City for €40m, so the Rossoneri management have decided to focus on Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The first offer of €15m was rejected by Bologna, who value the 21-year-old at around €25m – therefore there is a distance of around €10m between offer and demand.

In case of qualification for the group stages of the Europa League, Milan could raise their bid. The Rossoneri can push themselves to offer €18-19m as early as tomorrow morning based on how the game against Rio Ave goes tonight.

An alternative to Tomiyasu is always Matija Nastasic of Schalke 04, a player who could arrive on loan with option to buy and fairly quickly.
