After failing to sign a centre-back in the summer, Milan returned to the market in January and eventually secured Fikayo Tomori on loan from Chelsea. Thus far, he has been a huge success and it seems he will stay at the club.
The Englishman has already earned himself a spot in the starting eleven, sending captain Alessio Romagnoli to the bench. Although the latter hasn’t performed that well lately, it still says a lot about Tomori’s performances.
According to Mediaset, as cited by MilanNews, Milan are fully convinced by the defender and will exercise the €28m buy-out clause in the summer. It’s a significant investment, but Tomori is worth even more if he continues like this.
Chelsea will surely be a bit frustrated with the deal as their manager at the time, Frank Lampard, is no longer at the club. Furthermore, Tomori has shown that he can compete at the highest level, performing extremely well vs. Man Utd for example.
