Mediaset: Milan may have clear path to De Paul as Atletico Madrid close in on RB Leipzig star

There has been a twist in the saga surrounding Rodrigo De Paul as Atletico Madrid could soon be out of the race, according to a report.

According to what Claudio Raimondi has told SportMediaset on Italia Uno (via MilanNews), Atletico Madrid have long been on the trail of De Paul but now the LaLiga champions seem to be one step away from signing RB Leipzig’s Marcel Sabitzer to reinforce their midfield.

If Los Colchoneros were to close a deal for the Austrian, it could therefore be more straightforward for Milan to sign De Paul as the Argentine attacking midfielder would have one less suitor. To lower the cash sum demanded by Udinese, the Rossoneri would like to include counterparts.

In addition to winger Jens Petter Hauge, the Friulians are also admirers of Pobega, who has just returned from a successful loan at Spezia and could actually replace De Paul given his role as a Mezzala.
