AC Milan could bring in a centre-back before the summer ends and they have been linked with several players over the last few weeks. Norwich’s Andrew Omobamidele is one of them and negotiations are reportedly underway.
The Omobamidele links first appeared back in June when TeamTalk reported that Milan were ready to open talks with Norwich over the 21-year-old. However, it had been rather quiet on that front up until earlier today.
According to Mediaset, as cited by MilanNews, Milan have initiated negotiations with Norwich, who are asking for €15m to part ways with the Irish centre-back. The Rossoneri are only willing to offer half, though, which might be a tough ask.
Just like Fikayo Tomori, Omobamidele is of Nigerian origins and he has impressed at a very young age. Milan are not the only ones interested, per the report, with multiple clubs in Premier League also keeping tabs on the player.
It remains to be seen if an agreement can be reached but it should be noted that the Rossoneri also have other targets on their wish list for that position (such as Maxime Estève).

None of our best players are Italian for a reason, the best young Italian Center Backs in the league are Bastoni, Scalvini and Casale, Inter and Lazio won’t let those two go and Casale is valued at 40m which in Atalanta speak means 70m. So tell me where these other Italian center backs are? Do you want Roger Ibanez? He’s the only viable option under 25, or do you want Gatti, Mancini, Romagnoli, Quarta who are all 27 and older apart from Gatti? Then there’s Okoli and Buongiorno who aren’t close to Milan quality, so tell me, where are these great young Italian center backs you speak of?

What is he, Irish? The Emerald Isle is hardly renowned for its footballers. So yeah, I’m a complete fool for questioning why it is we’re going to sign a defender from the side who finished 13th in the Championship.

Lazio did not pay 40m for Casale 12 months ago. According to TM it was less than 7m. Funnily enough, Lazio signed Casale at the same time that it signed Romagnoli, on a free, who we discarded so that we can play defenders who can’t read the game and who chase forwards around.
As an interesting aside, Lazio conceded the second least number of goals playing Sarriball with Casale and Romagnoli at the centre backs without a number 9, and the most prolific goal Serie A goal scorer of recent years, for most of the season in which they still scored the 5th most goals.
Scalvini, who doesn’t turn 20 until December this year, wasn’t valued at 40m 12 months ago either.
There is Caleb Okoli at Atalanta and a raft of players who just played in the 3 underage rep tournaments. We’re signing a 4th or 5th choice CB.
