Mediaset: Milan want De Ketelaere available for upcoming Hungary and Austria trip

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan want Charles De Ketelaere to join up with the rest of the squad ahead of the trip to Hungary at the weekend, according to a report.

Claudio Raimondi reported for SportMediaset (via MilanNews) that today could be a big day in the De Ketelaere pursuit as Milan’s offer has now been raised to €30m as a fixed amount plus €5m in potential bonuses.

Club Brugge are asking for €37m but it is described as a ‘minimal resistance’ with the Belgian champions now perhaps resigned to losing the 21-year-old, and it is expected that the deal will be complicated either tonight or tomorrow.

On Saturday Milan will leave for the tour of Hungary and Austria, starting with a game against Zalaegerszegi TE on Saturday and they want to have the player available for the trip if they can get everything over the line in a suitable time, the report adds.

  1. There is a typo in the article:

“it is expected that the deal will be complicated either tonight or tomorrow.”

I think it should have been “completed” instead of “complicated”…

  2. Good news, it looks like it’s almost a done deal. Barring any serious injuries, we have enough of a team to get in the top 4 spots in Serie A next year and put a real fight to pass the round in CL this year.

Yes, I know that’s not what most people want to hear(trophies duh), but I’ll take any day a long-term plan that has very solid foundations. It took Alex Ferguson 6-7 years at Manchester United to get them to win, and then he slowly started butchering all the other teams and won more than 50% of the titles of PL and leaving the other teams to fight for the breadcrumbs.

On a separate note, depending on how Adli performs during the friendlies at AM and how De Keetelare slots in our starting 11, this makes certain that Diaz will not be purchased and might even have a hard time finding play time.
If we can get a solid young Italy-grown left defender (e.g. Parisi, Udogie), and a good central defender prospect (personal preference is Hincapie), I’d be extremely satisfied and give a 9/10 to this summer market.
