Mediaset: Milan working on two targets to complete the squad – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are working to try and secure two final reinforcements to complete the squad before the window shuts, a report claims.

Claudio Raimondi told SportMediaset (via MilanNews) that Milan are firmly set on Jean Onana for the central midfielder role. Today Milan presented an offer to the French club worth €5m plus a percentage of the proceeds from a future resale, given that a loan with option to buy bid was declined.

Bordeaux asked for €10m initially, but given their relegation to Ligue 2 and the financial problems they are facing, they could also settle for less for a player that is being targeted to fill the hole left by Franck Kessie.

Milan are keen on signing Japhet Tanganga for the centre-back position but Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest also want him. The Rossoneri are aiming for a paid loan with an option to buy, but it is already seen as a ‘last minute’ operation that may go down to the wire.

  1. I am usually a big fan of the skill and strategic insight shown by Maldini & Massara in terms of signings and contractual negotiations, but it seems to me that at this moment, practically at the end of this market session, they may be pushing the limits too far…well, we’ll see.

      1. And I don’t think it’s M&M trying to be strategic but more of M&M do not have the funds they need from Ownership to buy the players they want. I mean these are not even their first second or third choices….this is a Plan X, Y and Z – and we still may not have enough $$ to get it over the line. This late in the market and for the little (a joke) budget we have left – anyone we bring in we are just settling. At this point ownership should just give M&M the $ to get Onana and be done with it.

  2. Stop with these B.S. stories. Milan is not actually trying to sign these guys any more than they were seriously trying to sign Sanchez and Botman. When you offer people less than half of what they are asking for you are not serious about making a deal. They are just pretending to appease the fans.
