Mediaset: Milan’s top four hopes gone – future of Ibrahimovic and Donnarumma in doubt

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could reportedly be forced to say goodbye to two key players this coming summer as a top four finish now seems highly unlikely.

The Rossoneri now need a minor miracle to qualify for next season’s Champions League, with both Atalanta and Roma significantly ahead in the race for fourth place.

According to Claudio Raimondi’s report for SportMediaset (via MilanNews), Milan have essentially said goodbye to the last faint hopes of reaching fourth place with the draw against Fiorentina.

Not only that, but the automatic renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s deal would also be off the table as it would only be activated if he qualifies for the next Champions League. The Swede would have to sit at the table to understand if Elliott’s project really matches his ambitions.

The renewal of Gianluigi Donnarumma also remains an issue that needs resolving, and will likely be very much dependant on the investments that Milan will make in the summer as they prepare for seventh straight season without Champions League football.
