CorSera: Mendes’ entourage growing less confident of Milan renewal for Leao

By Euan Burns -

Rafael Leao is looking increasingly less likely to extend his contract with AC Milan according to the entourage of Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), there is growing concern among multiple parties that Leao and Milan may not reach the resolution that the fans would like.

The contract talks have been rumbling on for many months but issues such as the release clause and the money that Leao owes to Sporting CP have held up talks.

Whilst his agent, Tim Dimvula, recently explained that the player would like to stay and talks have not broken down, the likes of Mendes feel that the agreement may not be found in the near future.

The Portuguese forward is out of contract in June 2024 which means Milan would need to sell him this summer to get a serious transfer fee. Stefano Pioli dropped him to the bench for the game against Inter.

  1. So I was right, didn’t I ?

With RedChicken board Milan Is going down, that’s for sure. Luckily Leao is not superstar as Messi or like was Ronaldo, and his amortisation expires from 23/24, so they can leave him for free.
If he continue to be benched, with less and less performances in next 19 games, who will give serious money ? They will not receive 30 million…
Milan management is so bad in transfer and contract handling. Milan management is overpaid and new owner, by not knowing European football easily downgraded Milan in less than 4 months.

    1. “If he continue to be benched, with less and less performances in next 19 games, who will give serious money ? They will not receive 30 million…”

Well… If he continues to play like he has played so far this year, I’m still not expecting anyone to pay 100M€ for him. His value goes down every minute he’s on the bench or continues to be invisible.

    1. Not exactly. You can play roulette and win couple rounds in a row. But next round you will lose bet.
The same way these Americans leads Milan. First Elliott now Redchicken.
They had big luck to win scudetto, they won so many hands in a row. But now, this luck dissappear and we can clearly see real Ac Milan. This is Milan and not before.

      1. Wow, it is amazing how you say that their achievement is down to luck. milan had been played really well in the season before their eventual scudetto. That as hard work from the management, staff, and players. Don’t be stupid and take that credit away from them.

It is not elliot that let us dry in the winter transfer window. The redbird was on purposely dragged the take over negotiation beyond the last summer so we couldn’t buy players, and now you can see their effort in the winter one.
You have some soft spot somewhere up there, bud.

        1. Being clearly the best team in Serie A for little less than 2 seasons in a row with 5-10 players out injured all the time. And all that with pure luck!!! Maaaaan, the amount of luck Milan had should have caused a black hole or something even more catastrophic. 😀 😀 😀

  2. So many of us have wrote that Leao has to be put on the market for winter transfer if he doesn’t commit to renewal before WC. Now we have lost the advantage. The only way out is to completely make him not to play football until a reasonable solution is found. Milan can prevent him from all kinds of training as it deem please. Make him rot for 1.5 years.

    1. “Make him rot for 1.5 years.”

Milan is not that kind of club. I could imagine that happening in the other team in town but never in the Rossoneri.
