Tuttosport: Mendes could push Benfica defender towards Milan – the situation

Another report has claimed that agent Jorge Mendes could have a big influence in AC Milan’s transfer plans moving forward, with a Benfica defender linked.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) talks about some significant market connections involving Milan and Juventus, the two teams that will face each other tomorrow in the second semi-final of the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia.

The connection regarding the negotiations involves the position of central defender. The Bianconeri are interested in Fikayo Tomori and Antonio Silva of Benfica, but Milan could disrupt their plans by going for Silva.

Tuttosport writes: ‘Juve-Milan is a challenge for defensive reinforcements on the market: the Bianconeri are insisting on the Portuguese from Benfica, who however agent Mendes could push towards ‘his’ Conceicao in red and black. An operation that would bring Tomori closer to Turin’.

If Mendes were to actually push Antonio Silva towards Milan then it could help the Old Lady get Tomori. One thing is for sure: the game in Riyadh will bring the two managements close together, and it is possible that operations will be discussed.

Silva is just 21 years of age and made his way through the youth sector at Benfica, playing 13 times this season with one goal and one assist to his name so far.

  1. His form this season hasn’t been as good thus season been in and out of the benfica side.

but I’d take him on loan-with-option as if he settles he has potential to become another Ruben Dias. Worth the risk, and we could do with another cb especially if Tomori leaves

    1. Agreed on both RB and DM but Silva would likely be replacement for Tomori.

If €50mn then you’re right he’s way out of our budget. I was thinking loan fee + €35mn option

  2. Another defender just as Gabbia and Thiaw are sort of getting established?

This after we broke up Tomori and Gabbia

    And Tomori and Kalulu

    And Romagnoli and Tomori

And and and going back to about 2004 which was the last time AC Milan had an established CB pairing.

    1. Milan has an established CB pairing. Gabbia and Thiaw.
Tomori is ass, that’s why he is a bench player. He began the season as a starter and lost his spot because he was helping the other teams more than Milan.
Try watching the games instead of talking about the past

  3. If there is a possibility to sign a defender I would prefer Scalvini. Although we need reenforcement in other areas way more.
