Messaggero: Lazio considering late swoop for Romagnoli – what must happen first

By Oliver Fisher -

Lazio are considering a move for AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli in the last two days of the window, according to a report.

We wrote at length about Romagnoli’s future in a feature published yesterday, looking at the tactical quandary Pioli faces, the economic dilemma the club must battle and the issue of market demand at the moment.

As revealed by the newspaper Il Messaggero (via MilanLive), Lazio have Romagnoli as an idea to reinforce the defensive department. In the event of the sale of Denis Vavro, the Biancoceleste could launch an official bid for Romagnoli, but it will be a difficult pursuit.

The Rossoneri do not want to give away an important player with not much time to replace him, even if Romagnoli’s contract is due to expire in June 2022. A very good offer would be needed to convince Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, given the timescales involved.

    1. +1

Remember Gabbia was playing well with Kjaer for quite some time when Romagnoli was injured last season.

It is better to get rid of Riaolo’s player now than wait to be walked over at the end of the season. But, probably better to sell him abroad then to a direct Lazio that competes with Milan for a CL slot.

  1. Yes, sell.
I can’t believe it has gotten this late in the window without a sale or renewal.
I fear this won’t go through as their is no way Lazio will pay him what he wants. Only way to get near to that will be on a free transfer.

  2. End of contract + Limited playtime compared to previous years + Mino Raiola; everything about Romagnoli’s situation is a huuuge red flag.
