Messaggero: Milan join Milinkovic-Savic race as Juventus make insufficient offer

By Oliver Fisher -

Juventus are struggling to reach a deal over Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and AC Milan are still in the race to sign him, a report claims.

Today’s edition of Il Messaggero (via PianetaMilan) talks about the future of Milinkovic-Savic who could choose to leave Lazio after the best part of a decade there in search of a new adventure, potentially still in Italy.

The Serbian international is one of Juventus’ primary objectives in view of the summer, but there is currently a gap between the offer from the Bianconeri – which stands at around €30m – and the €40m asking price that Lazio have set.

Another important bit of news is that Milan have put the 28-year-old on their list of midfield targets too, given that the department is one that needs a lot of work.

Milinkovic-Savic has played 44 games across all competitions so far this season, racking up 9 goals and 8 assists, with 15 of those goal contributions coming in the league.

  1. My dream is AC Milan change formation next season to 433 with 3 midfield : Tonali ,SMS and bennacer. But with the price 40m euro and age 28 , there is no way elliot or RedBird want to pay that amount unless for young player age 20-24. It is their policy not signing older player with high transfer fee

    1. the sad part is 40M€ is not a high fee. Sure at his age there is no resale value but the stuff he’d bring is invaluable. power, passing, consistancy, set pieces and that balkan swag.
Dude has been one of the best mids in recent years, to buy him is a nobrainer at a “reduced” price

  2. Haven’t we read million times during the last few years that “Milan won’t participate in bidding wars”. For sure there are teams interested in SMS and therefore there will be a bidding war. A war that Milan won’t participate in. So… #fakenews.

  3. This will NOT happen – although if Redbird are serious about building a consistent CL side – it should. These owners will not pay 40M for a 28 year old. Sad. We need 3 established proven starting caliber players like SMS, a proven striker and RW at minimum to compete for CL and the league title. That will cost 100M plus. Unfortunately that is not the Redbird/Elliot policy. Instead we have about 50M, a wage cap and buy inexperienced youth and hope they develop in 2-3 years….so sad. As by the time that happens – players like Mike, Theo, Leao etc…will be sold/gone

    1. If they can sell tomori or kalulu minimum 50m euro ( tomori maybe can go to EPL with 60-70m euro ) . If you sell one of that defender , you can buy SMS or proven striker. Disaster if they wasted budget buy young player like CDK that slow to develop in other country beside his country
