Messias assures Milan are ‘calm’ ahead of Inter clash but admits it will be ‘difficult’

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the Coppa Italia clash between AC Milan and Inter this evening, Junior Messias spoke to the media about the Rossoneri’s task. He got on the scoresheet last time out but won’t play from start today.

Messias came off the bench against Genoa and found the back of the net from close range, converting his own rebound. He won’t play from start this time out either, though, as Alexis Saelemaekers will get yet another chance on the right.

Speaking to Mediaset, as cited by MilanNews, the Brazilian shared his thoughts on the game. He admitted that it will be a difficult task but also assisted that Milan are up for the challenge, eager to go through.

On the pressure…

“We are calm. We know it’s a difficult match, whoever is more relaxed and gives more will win. It will be decided in episodes.”

On Inter…

“We have to do what we have done during the season. We have to be calm and do what we know how to do.”

Milan are unbeaten against their city rivals this season (1W, 2D) and they will want to extend that run tonight. A scoring draws (eg 1-1), thanks to the away goal rule, would get the Rossoneri through to the final in the competition.
