Messias says Milan must have ‘energy and attitude’ as Lecce clash is ‘difficult’

By Isak Möller -

Junior Messias is in the starting XI as AC Milan will take on Lecce in 30 minutes. The Brazilian has recovered from his injury struggles and is looking forward to playing from the first minute.

Messias has come off the bench in the last two games and he has done quite well. In any case, it’s understandable that Stefano Pioli wants to give Ismael Bennacer some rest, with Brahim Diaz moving from the right to the centre.

Speaking to MilanTV, as cited by MilanNews, Messias spoke about his own condition after recovering from the injury. He also shared his thoughts on the clash and what Milan need to do in order to claim the three points.

On his condition…

“I feel good. I’ve come off the bench in the last two games. My condition isn’t the best but I work hard every day to make myself available to the coach.”

On the game…

“We must have energy and attitude, it’s very important to get off to a good start right away. We have time to prepare for the semi-final of the Champions League, we must concentrate on the league now.”

On Lecce…

“It will be a difficult match like any other. We have always struggled with the teams further down the table but we must have the right attitude. We must do the right things and not think about our opponents.”

Inter managed to win their game against Empoli earlier today and the pressure is thus on the Rossoneri to succeed. The top-four race remains incredibly tight and Pioli’s men need every win they can get between now and the end of the season.
