CorSera: Milan’s 2022 summer mercato a failure so far – the squad has got weaker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s 2022 summer transfer window has again come under fire from the media, with claims that the squad is currently weaker than last season’s.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that the last Milan summer transfer market has been a failure because so far none of the new signings have brought anything like a meaningful contribution.

The symbol of this failure certainly Charles De Ketelaere as per the paper, who has one assist but has not scored a goal yet after netting 18 times for Club Brugge last season convincing Milan to pay over €30m to sign him. He didn’t even come off the bench on Saturday in Lecce.

At the moment, the Diavolo are weaker than last year, when Franck Kessie offered a strong alternative in the midfield double pivot (and even as a number 10 at times) and the then-captain Alessio Romagnoli was part of the defensive rotations.

  1. Hakan Calhanoglu had good impact too….

But we expect good news from Red Bird about finance, right ?????? It must be positive net income this year.

  2. Who could have seen what is happening now coming…. ???? Such a shock voov. Who would have thought that ignoring your problems for 2 years in transfer windows will not have a negative effect at some point especially in a season where you play 3 games per week for the whole season… I use to be a super suporter of Maldini but come on this is getting ridiculous who will play when Giroud gets injured not like we are not playing with 10 men even when we fill our strongest 11?

  3. Its a real mess now.
Botman is lucky he went to Newcastle!

We have 4 or 5 players for rb but zero cover at lb.
We have no fit reliable goalkeeper.
We have no player to replace kessie in double pivot.
We have 3 or 4 players for no. 10, all useless.
    No rw worth their place.
No fit back up for lw.
1 fit striker who is 36yo!!! And can’t run.

We had the chance to build on a title winning team and it wasted.

    Worst transfer window ever!

Redturd need to show some ambition.

The biggest problem will be getting rid of so many crap/injured players nobody wants.
How do u get rid of 4m per year Origi?

  4. Let’s remain positive please ..All this negative criticism. We need to stay focused..Giroud will score against inter and we will win the super cup.
That’s a positive start .I think when we actually win a game ,we will recover confidence that’s been missing .
what we can realistically hope for us to finnish second in the scuddeto this season .That would be decent considering the injuries that we have had to contend with .I think we will beat Tottenham in the champions leauge ..so plenty to play for .

  5. Just one other thing ,I really do think we are missing kessie big time ..I am extremely disappointed with signing of de ketelerae …Just does not deem to have any confidence at all ,and Orgi has done little .
I do think that we do lack real confidence at the moment ..it will come back ..I think Rebic can be a good player ,but he does seem to injured easily.
Anyhow super cup coming up .We will win it .

  6. I’m not a prophet but I see CDK hitting form that will take us to the top.I’ve be with this club since 1993.I no go go anywhere.Let’s be optimistic.
    FORZA MILAN
