After having made official the arrival of Igli Tare as the new sporting director, AC Milan are looking for a new coach to replace Sergio Conceicao.
Tare is not being blessed with the gift of time after having been officially announced on Monday. He doesn’t even really have a moment to adjust: instead it is straight into the action, with some already worried that Milan are behind in things.
Offer made to Italiano
According to Sky this morning, Vincenzo Italiano is Milan’s number 1 target and there have been initial contacts with the Bologna coach. In these talks, Tare presented an offer of €4m net per season to try and convince the Coppa Italia-winning coach.
The former Fiorentina man has not yet reached an agreement with the Rossoblu for a contract extension, but the Rossoblu are confident that they will convince him to sign a new deal and remain.
Wednesday 28 May could be a decisive morning for the future of Italiano: his agents will meet with the Bologna leadership again to find a solution on the possibility of extending his contract. If not, the Rossoneri will be ready to pounce.
However, Milan cannot afford to sit and wait in an idle state. The other path that Tare is pursuing is the one that leads to Massimiliano Allegri. There were also contacts with him in the past 24 hours as well.
The competition for Allegri moved early (Napoli are ahead at the moment, but are waiting for a decision from Antonio Conte). In the background there is also the option of Thiago Motta, fired in March by Juventus.

Here we go with another failure…even Bologna end up lower in standing. I would go only for Conte….nothing else. Honestly i would rather get Allegri than Italiano.
I’m by no extent saying we should hire Allegri quite the opposite but you do realize that when AC Milan hired Allegri the first time Cagliari had sacked him the previous season while at 12th place and AC Milan ended up finishing 3rd in Serie A, right ?
Fact is the majority of coaches that AC Milan has hired for the last 30+ years wasn’t really big names per se when arriving.
Finished one place lower with BOLOGNA (after Bologna had already secured a European place by beating Milan).
Yeah and Fonseca was top 3 with Lille, whats the difference? Does he lack the Italian passport then you’d love him?
Weirdos, most of you arent even Italian and you act like English fans with how they overhype their own players.
Why are we getting this guy again??? Just because he beat us in the final? Easily would rather getting Motta than this guy. He finished 9th in the league
He finished 9th in the League with quality of players lower to Milan quality.
Yes he is a great coach, he could have won 3 trophies in just last 3 season -2 conference league final and now coppa italia, bologna sold impt players still can fight for top4 at one point and win cup – crazy good
Sorry but I don’t see anything so special about Italiano. If his Bologna performed well, it’s thanks to the previous coach who laid all the foundation. He basically used the same system and formation with his predecessor.
Moreover he’s still under contract which means there’s also this compensation to be paid to Bologna. If we really want another potential coach under the helmet, all conditions considered, it’s better to hire Motta. Or just stick with what we have on Sergio.
I think one thing is certain here… the media don’t have a clue and are guessing. The two biggest sources in Sky and GdS reporting complete opposite stories this morning. We just have to wait and see.
What i don’t get, is we’re talking about to different type of coaches. One is of the newer generation coaches who like high press, the other one being a old school “Catenaccio”.
I’d like him.
He’d bring some identity.
Maybe he can convince Calabria to return.
Wtf is it with you and Calabria? 😂 His eyes, his smile..?
Maybe he is Calabria??
What kind of relationship you have with Calabria lol?
I’d take Italiano over Allegri – I think the only reason some people are getting hyped on Max again is because Napoli want him…
Not sure why but I am more convinced by Motta than this guy lol. Motta learnt his mistake at Juve (hopefully if he join us, otherwise I hope not 😂) and he could relaunch his career setback with us.
His arrogance and ego clash vs Juve’s Furlani (Guintoli) cost him his job. This is fixable.
