Some renderings have emerged as AC Milan look to take more formal steps forward in their plans to build a new stadium in San Donato.
As Pasquale La Ragione reports, today the Sportlifecity company presented to the Council of San Donato Milanese the documentation for the request for a variation to the Integrated Intervention Plan relating to the San Francesco area.
It is the request that confirms and consolidates the interest of Milan to build their own stadium in San Donato Milanese, with an urban intervention of 108,000m² of gross surface area.
This includes a modern stadium on the model of other large top clubs in world football, with a capacity of 70,000 seats and other functions that will host hotel, entertainment and commercial facilities.
It is described as an innovative and ambitious project, but totally consistent with the project quantities and intended uses already envisaged for that area.
San Donato Mayor Francesco Squeri reacted to the development: “An important process begins for the Administration, also through the activation of citizen participation, of evaluating the technical-administrative feasibility and the opportunity that this project can represent for everyone.
It is an important day that presents us with decisions, whatever they may be, which will still have an impact on the future of our city.
“A project is officially registered which can represent, not only for San Donato, a challenge and an opportunity for development, work and social growth.
“Now, after the Sportlifecity company has formalised the choice of San Donato for the post-San Siro, our work as Administration begins. The project contents will be carefully evaluated for an initial feasibility check linked to the start of the procedural process.
“As already stated on many occasions, once the feasibility of the urban planning operation presented has been verified, we will study and implement all the tools to guarantee the involvement of the City Council, citizens, associations and political parties in a choice that must be placed at the centre the public interest of an operation that has the ambition of making our city seize a great opportunity for revitalisation and attractiveness in the coming years.
“Together with the city we will also involve the Lombardy Region, the Metropolitan City, the City of Milano and the neighbouring municipalities, as well as the Railways, the Milan Metro, Autostrade per l’Italia and the South Milan Agricultural Park, which are all part of the choices that will affect the success of such a project historic and ambitious.
“This match is a feat that can only be achieved with the participation of everyone, no one excluded. In this regard, in the next few days the Council Groups will receive a copy of all the documentation that the offices are preparing.
“This will only be the first step to start a process of involvement of the city to reach a decision, which can mature according to methods and procedures worthy of the choice that, together, we must make.”

The Cathedral one looked much better imho. But I won’t care as long as we have our own stadium.
i think that stadium in the pictures is just a template for now.
Oh yeah, it is. Just read a post about this, Mb.
No problem.
Wish we implement a design similar to the cathedral, what a beauty it is!
We don’t unilaterally own the cathedral design. It was a design developed in partnership with Inter. I also read that Inter “took” the design when the clubs split up. Even if we can come up with a similar design, I don’t think we should as it would be dumb to have two stadiums that look almost the same. In any event, the most important thing is that we’ll have our own, privately owned, non-shared stadium, befitting a club of our stature and a city like Milano.
We don’t only want beauty. This place needs to be a model for clubs all over the world. People will not just love Milan and come to the stadium. They will love the club because of how wonderful the stadium and its surrounding is.
I can also see a lot of green space. That’s great I hope that we stick to that and give to the community and show them that our coming to their neighborhood will make them proud.
As usual, in Italy, all this talk means none of us will ever attend a match in this stadium. Too many hands out to get their share. It will never change.
