AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are planning their final two summer signings to complete the squad and the mercato.
La Gazzetta dello Sport write how Stefano Pioli made it clear on the eve of the game against Atalanta what the plan is: “If there is the right opportunity, the club will be ready on the market to improve a squad that we believe is already competitive.”
The current plan is for a central midfielder and a central defender to arrive, but if Fode Ballo-Toure left then they would need to intervene in the deputy right-back role too. Rade Krunic’s injury, Tommaso Pobega not yet being 100% and Tiemoue Bakayoko being outside the plans has made a new midfielder a necessity.
A young profile remains in the crosshairs but the Raphael Onyedika hypothesis has lost steam because FC Midtjylland want €8m while the Rossoneri are offering €6.5m.
Now the main target is Aster Vranckx of Wolfsburg. The 19-year-old is wanted on a paid loan with an option to buy, and the fact the Bundesliga side left him out of their draw with Schalke over the weekend might be a clue.
Abdou Diallo of PSG is another target abandoned and now Japhet Tanganga of Tottenham is back in fashion. A loan with option to buy formula is sought again, so Milan could fill in the two gaps in their squad without much up front expense.
I like both profiles for what the team needs from them, even better if both are loan with option to buy deals, but it’d be a real shame if we had to face another season with Messias or Salemaekers as starters on the RW.
Can’t believe we’re missing out on such a good deal with Ziyech (well, I can). Looks like he’s on his way to Ajax and would have been a real game changer like Renato Sanches
Wolfsburg wants to sell Aster Vranckx because the coach does not think he is good enough…but good enough for Milan, he still will be, according to M/M…
Tomori wasn’t good enough for Chelsea but great for us, Paqueta wasn’t but been doing great in France. It all depends on the playing styles. Dumb remark 😒😒
