AC Milan are trying to beat the competition and land Mario Gila, with some positive signals coming from the player’s side.
One of the most talked about names in terms of transfer targets for Milan ahead of the summer is Gila, who has been one of Lazio’s key players for a while now. He was brought to the Italian capital by Milan’s current sporting director Igli Tare in 2022, and he wants to repeat the coup at his new club.
Gila: New contacts held
As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) have reported this morning, Milan have ‘serious intentions’ regarding the Spanish defender, so much so that in recent days there have been new contacts between the club and the player’s entourage.
The directors want to accelerate now, as it’s believed the competition could be fierce and even closer than expected. With Alessandro Bastoni potentially leaving for Barcelona, Inter could be a very tough opponent in this regard.
Prior to the most recent round of talks, there had already been meetings to assess the feasibility of the deal. In the last match against Lazio, which Milan lost at the Olimpico, Gila made a positive impression with a great defensive display.
Currently, Tare, who brought the player to the capital for around €6m, wants to work to lower his asking price below €20m. It won’t be easy with someone like Claudio Lotito – the Lazio owner – who is a very tough negotiator.
The Albanian director is also being encouraged by the green light from Massimiliano Allegri, who has already approved the Spanish defender. The Rossoneri defence has improved significantly this season, but needs another key addition to boost its technical level, in the coach’s eyes.

Depth will be critical with UCL games coming into the equation. But more importantly to compete at that level we need proven reinforcement. Good option for the CB position…hope we can pull this off without the usual back and forth…forza Milan.
Totally agree 👍
Agree. He isn world class, but we cant afford ready-made world class. He’s solid enough for what we need.
Gila, Zalewski, Bernabe, Bernardo Silva and Mikautadze
