AC Milan know that they must sign a quality midfielder to replace Franck Kessie in the summer and they are targeting Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s compatriot, a report claims.
According to PianetaMilan, the Rossoneri are targeting the 23-year-old Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg who continues to impress in Serie A. Not only that, but he is a native of Malmö and was recommended by Ibrahimovic to the management of Manchester United during his time with the Red Devils.
Apparently his name was also put forwards to Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara as a good candidate to reinforce Milan’s midfield. The cost would be about €15-20m and Svanberg’s current salary at Bologna is €500k net, so the Rossoneri could treble or quadruple his pay.
The midfielder is also admired by Lazio, Napoli, West Ham and Everton so there is some competition to beat, but perhaps the presence of Ibrahimovic and his flattering words could be enough to swing it.
