Report: Milan admirers of young Lecce defender with European interest – the details

This afternoon, a report has suggested that AC Milan have taken an interest in a young Lecce defender who also has suitors abroad.

A lot has been said about the defensive situation at Milan this season, with many feeling that an experienced option is needed. Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos have been linked, and now, another candidate has been put forward.

Liking one from Lecce

As Andrea Propato reports on X, the Rossoneri had scouts watching the Lecce game at the Via del Mare this weekend, perhaps to see how Francesco Camarda was doing, but also to scout a young defender.

The player in question is Tiago Gabriel, the 20-year-old from Portugal who has made 14 Serie A appearances so far. Previously part of the Sporting youth set-up he has impressed in the league this season, in his first full season as a professional in Italy.

Whether he would be a contribution to the defensive reinforcement remains to be seen. However, many would probably prefer an experienced name to arrive in January, rather than another youngster with potential.

He is being closely monitored at this moment, and with Werder Bremen also keeping tabs, it is a situation to keep note of moving forward.

The journalist adds that Milan are also keen on Lecce Primavera talent Olaf Gorter, who is 20 years of age and plays predominantly as a defensive midfielder.

      1. Yeah, I was suggesting a few days ago that Milan should buy him. Knows the league and is one of the best in the league. Wouldn’t be expensive either.

  1. Tiago Gabriel. 20Y 🇵🇹 is not what Milan need.
We need a Left Footed to be Strahinja Pavlović substitute. As for young players we have Koni De Winter 23Y and David Odogu 19Y. So Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos and Milan Škriniar or Joe Gomez will be more ideal if the Team wants to achieve the 20th League. Modric and Rabiot took us to another level. Lets put another Legend in the Back.

  2. depends on the objective, if its only for a strong substitute/rotating CB to the current CBs then no need to buy big names.. just get some stable player from mid-table team already play in the league
